Re: 465 Power Supply Problem
Thanks Albert, I get 80 volts across C1513, so it could be pushing close to 82 with ripple maybe. The line voltage selector is set correctly at 115. I don't know who wrote that on the schematic, it

Re: Tek 465 intensity problem
As I noted earlier, the 465's CRT turned out to have a terminal fault. Since the internal construction is worth looking at, it seemed a pity to simply throw it in the bin, so I decided to chop it up

Re: 581A doesn't trigger
My view of old gear is that if it¡¯s reasonably cosmetically sound and not missing parts, and isn¡¯t needed for parts to fix an equivalent model in better overall condition, then it¡¯s always worth

Re: Minor request when replying
I fully agree. One way to avoid that mess is by enclosing the double quotes in your search term. Extra spaces between words are ignored but the word components of the search term change into an AND

Re: Minor request when replying
I considered that theoretical possibility, but didn't include it in my post because I haven't seen it. Shame it turns out to be a practical problem.

I just saw again how really annoying it can be: try a search at the web site for "130 L-C meter". Albert ---In TekScopes@..., <tggzzz@...> wrote : More postings are becoming contaminated

Re: 465 Power Supply Problem
As far as I can see the circuit protects against a too high +55V UNREG voltage. If higher than 82 V the SCR gets triggered and (eventually) the fuse will blow. Did you measure +55V UNREG (across

581A doesn't trigger
I have a 581A Tek scope I saved from the dumpster. It turns out that it doesn't trigger any signal at all. Worth looking into it? -- Christoph

What is the function of Q3005 in the TM506A?
Hi to All, With several TM506A's it seems handy to me to convert the SG5010 for operating in one of these. The SG5010 has a provision to replace the GPIB/PLL Board a little more inside the enclosure.

Re: Introducing myself and my Tek 465 Project
Hi Neil, I think you' d better follow Raymond's advice. In diagram <8> you can see that U870 needs the -8V supply to establish Vee. You (and I) probably have no idea what consequences an absent -8V

Re: 2445a power supply repair
Thank you for all the help! After changing all the caps on the inverter and regulator boards, the voltages are perfectly centered as per the spec. limits. Ripple is 10x smaller. Traces are more crisp

Minor request when replying
More postings are becoming contaminated with "line noise" like "#yiv7938461022 #yiv7938461022 -- #yiv7" etc. I presume it is a de-html-ed version of the adverts at Yahoo! appends to each posting.

I'm sure you can just file a flat even with the shaft installed on the scope. ST <TekScopes@...> wrote:

Re: 465B Focus Troubleshooting
So it is not a problem with the CRT. When they get old, the trace becomes both dim and less well focused because of lack of emission from the cathode. There is another possibility with the CRT though.
