Dunno. The video was sent to me yesterday.

Yeh. I certainly wouldn't want to stick my fingers in there whilst it's in motion.

Not really sure what all the things do in the video. Another electronics buddy of mine sent that to me.

Hello--

With a few modifications, this thing could revolutionize the tattoo
industry<g>.

I noticed that partway through, a larger cylindrical probe rapidly tapped on
what I'm guessing are the large SMT packaged devices while the needle
probes are flying. Possibly this is a test for intermittent solder joints
or BGA connections?

Brad,

Not really sure. It was a link sent my way by another electronics nut. He said the same thing about tattoos. ;-)

I want one though. <VBSEG>

I Well I did find those original slow HDD on eBay, but would prefer
something faster. Does anyone know if the TDS7104 BIOS support over 8.5GB?

Thanks Helge,

An IBM (Hitachi-GST these days) DARA-206000 6GB 4200rpm ATA drive.

Finding a 6GB ATA HDD these days could be a bit tricky!!!

So while I ponder that - are the two restore CDs (OS and Application)
available?

I'm looking at an auction for a TDS7104

The builtin monitor appears not to work (CCLs?) but the external VGA does.

This show an Intel Landesk error saying "Media test failure: Check cable."
so I guess the hard disk has been wiped or is dead.

So, what sort of disk is needed, and is it possible to get a refresh
disk image to rebuild it?

What are the likely faults on the internal screen display?

An addendum, I grabbed the service manual from Tek's website, and it appears that the HDD and CD drive have both been removed (and probably crushed), including the specail push to latch carrier for the HDD. I hate people who do that.

Re: Need Source of Power Supply Capacitors for 7854

Stefan:

The capacitor fit is tight, and the screw mount allows no slop - or there
will be shorting to the chassis. I will probably have to try a dirty fix.
So many of the old quality manufacturers have gone by the wayside. I have
been in electronic engineering since 1964 and I am as burned-out as all the
defunct companies that provided quality products in my youth. Thanx for
your thoughts.

All this tells you is whether or not the board appears to have been made
correctly. If the product value is high enough, you still have to
troubleshoot the ones with out of spec measurements from the flying lead
tests. (If the product value is low enough, you just scrap the failing
DUTs.)
