I know, but the thread history is lost for old plain e-mail users like me. If this is a desired "feature" I respect it, of course. But maybe its just a default setting that is confusing list members like me. Regards, Sebastian. On Sat, March 31, 2018 7:21 pm, Richard Knoppow wrote:

Re: [Admin] groups.io settings.
I always receive and send emails using my email client (Thunderbird). About the only thing I use the web interface for is to access files and photos or to look back through a thread.

I've also noticed that the "duplicate copy" phenomenon does not occur most of the time when I send an email. I haven't yet tracked whether it happens when I originate a post or respond to a post, or either. n any case, it appears to be an intermittent occurrence. The web site does have a "Topics" button that when clicked groups messages with the same Subject header.

There is a pull-down menu under Messages labeled Topics but I think its really threads. It does not bring up quoted messages but, presumably, the idea is that one can follow the thread of responses back to the original post. I agree that eliminating quoted material is probably a way to reduce overhead. On 3/31/2018 2:20 PM, Sebastian Garcia wrote:

Re: 500-series fan motor disassembly.
Sebastian,
As I recall, the tabs which hold the retainer to the endbell were relatively easy to bend starting with a small flat blade screwdriver followed by needle nose pliers. I bent them only far enough to remove the retainer. You can see in the mages that I did not straighten them out. Shaun Merrigan |
[Admin] groups.io settings.
Hi Dennis,
When one list member replies to a message from the web interface, the previous thread history is lost in the body of the message. Maybe the reason is to avoid excessive overhead? From my humble point of view, this is pretty inconvenient and confuse. As I prefer the e-mail channel, it's more clear and efficient to have the thread history directly below the last post. Could it be possible to enable this behavior in the web interface? Regards, Sebastian. |

Thank you; your pics are helpful, of course. My motors looks a bit different but it seems the bushings assemblies are similar. How did you remove the metal end cap / retainer? Best regards, Sebastian. On Sat, March 31, 2018 5:42 pm, Shaun M wrote:

Re: Duplicate Messages
FWIW, I receive the list via regular e-mail using Thunderbird and have not been getting duplicates since the move. In the past I was getting duplicates from some Yahoo groups for a time. I think not now. Yahoo seems to have stopped sitting on their hands and fixed some problems. Too late to prevent a bunch of clients from moving.

I use the Thunderbird email client under windows.? I only see the email bounced back from groups.io in my Inbox. There is a copy of my original message in the Sent items box.? There must be another reason only some people are having this issue.

500-series fan motor disassembly.
Hi there,
In this corner, just proceeding to clean some 500-series scopes' fan motors. There is very good advice in the list's archives, particularly from Stan Griffiths. My question: What is a recommended way to remove the metal end caps of the bushing assembly? Of course, will also need advice for a way to later put then again in place. Regards, Sebastian. |

Well, during the reconnoitering to figure out where the black wire would be reconnected... the already too short red (actually, orange) wire broke yet again!? Now, it is too short to solder to. Why didn't Tek put a plug on the back of this fan?????? With all the extraordinarily well designed wiring in this scope, I can't wrap my head around them making it IMPOSSIBLE to remove this fan motor for maintenance!!!? #@%&*

Re: Duplicate Messages
It's odd. I'm on a number of groups.io lists and the only time I've ever seen a dupe was when someone resent their own message. But on every one of those lists there are a few people that have complained about getting dupes.
