Re: TDS5xx pimpery
For me DPO is for a limited purpose, but having the privilege of playing around with the keysight scope or you could turn it on or off I could see many other uses. My application is Teletype, where

Re: TDS5xx upgrades/mods
TDS520 and TDS540 share most of the hardware so it can be done but probably with more fuss than you want. Since the Acq boards are totally different you will need such a board from a TDS540, TDS540A

Re: TDS5xx pimpery
DPO is nice....kinda gives an intuitive view of jitter or frequent transients etc. But heck for $2K my TDS 694 can one shot @ 3Ghz.... and look at 4 channels. Too bad it doesn't have communication

Yes I understand your point, I didn't meant to start a debate/waste people's time. I see that I am in the minority here, so I will leave it at that ;-) Regards, Vincent Trouilliez

Re: TDS5xx pimpery
I think that can fall under the auspices of "if it's too confusing, perhaps one should not be doing it." Not saying you don't, but it's important to have full understanding of what you're doing before

Hi Leo, Thanks for that, will have a look at this thread :-) Mine is an A not a B, so I guess following instructions blindly might brick my scope, potentially... so will wait until I have an EPROM
