Patrick, I think the A5 boards without the battery have a flash memory.
U2008, a ER1400 EAROM holds the cal constants.

includes a few photos. You will see the lithium battery with a yellow label.
(By the way, when I bought replacements from Mouser, the new batteries were
totally black, no yellow label.)
I also looked at the A5 for the 2465
and did not find a battery. Perhaps the repair manual theory of ops might
indicate how calibration constants are maintained when the unit is powered
down.
