Re: Low cost Scope-Mobile alternatives?

Hello All,
Thanks for all the helpful comments! A brief update on my quest. I've opted to stick with the Wal-Mart wire shelf for $20 that I linked in the original post. I found I could add casters to it and picked up some at Home Depot for about $11. The combination will work for me and I'm not out too much cash. I figure this way I'll spot a super deal on the real McCoy in the near future. (Note to Bill Higdon, sorry I overlooked your post about rehoming the one you have....I'm in Florida and I'll bet the shipping cost would easily exceed my quick solution)

A few things I learned along the way about 'wire shelving.' The Wal-Mart shelves use 3/4" posts, which is pretty non-standard. The most common is 1" which supports larger shelf sizes and more weight. The Wal-Mart shelves use 5/16" x 18 threaded bolt; this is a common bolt size, but your options are limited if you want to use larger castor wheels. The ones I got at Home Depot have 2" diameter wheels and probably most people here will consider them too small. My floors are not carpeted and so this size works for me. Casters with 3/8" or 1/2" threaded studs fit the beefier 1" posts.

The shelves themself are very sturdy, don't wobble around and support the weight of the 7603 very well. I just need to add a few creature comforts and it'll be ready to go!

Thanks again!!
