Options like the hard drive and video trigger don't require activation, but I don't think you will get option 2M just by adding the hard drive. Option 2M always came with a hard drive, but you could have a hard drive without option 2M. I think you can even add option 2M without a hard drive as long as you have the larger memory on the acquisition board.
