Agreed, I think a modicum of amendments or scenario rules are appropriate, as long as both sides agree. Being a solo wargamer, this is rarely a problem area ;)
You may be right re the scythed chariots. I will have to double check. I seem to recall that they stay engaged until defeated or until the enemy is done, then they are removed. This could take a few turns with a scythed chariot unit having 3 or 4 "models."?
In exchanges with Simon Watson, a well known figure in this group and over in the SoA, I understand that scythed chariots are also able to deploy as a screen - just like the elephants.?

Also for your point on scythed chariots, I believe it mentions in Tactica 2 that after their first melee scythed chariots are removed from the board??
