T27 anchor light and quarter. berth
4
We own a 1967 model. Does anyone have an interior photo, or can take one, that shows the starboard, aft, quarter berth shelf attachment point, for the removable backrest pad, which also can function as a weatherboard/leeboard? Maybe a closeup? Our woodwork was taken apart before we bought the boat and we are trying to put it back together now. Also, did the T27 come standard, with a 360 degree all around anchor light, at the top of the mast? We don’t think we have one.

ADRI-ANNE was recently (August) hauled and bottom done and is currently in the Metedeconk River at the American Legion in Brick, NJ. Asking price is $5,500.00. I'd really like someone who values a T27 to be the next owner and enjoy what she has to offer.

Tartan 27 Centerboard Issues
20
?Okay, so we hauled for the winter and got the centerboard down in the travel lift, before blocking for storage. Sanded it smooth and bottom painted it. Question: is the slot opening, in the top aft end of the board typical for the centerboard, or does that opening represent the centerboard starting to separate. Picture enclosed.

Our $250 Tartan 27, Ongoing Restoration, Before and After Photos
3
?Thought everyone might enjoy a few photos of our 1967 boat after about 1 year of ownership. Just launched last weekend. We are restoring from the bottom up, as opposed to the more traditional way, of the top, down. The 2 new coats of two part polyurethane Interlux Perfection, in flag blue, looks good from about five feet away. We might put one maintenance coat on it next spring, which is equivalent to 1 quart. Now that we have the knack for applying, it will probably come out a lot better. The transom is now teak with 12 coats of Epifanes spar varnish and gold lettering. Next year comes the deck paint, cabin exterior and the cabin interior which is already at least 50% re-varnished, with 8 coats high gloss Epifanes. Then odds and ends as life goes, on, like maybe a teak and holly floor etc. Scott Rosasco

Roller Furling Questions
4
I have a Hood 810 Seafurl LD on my boat. This is a new boat to me and the roller furling is missing a couple of parts. I have reached out to Hood to see if I can buy the parts I need but so far they haven't responded. My next step would be to bite the bullet and buy a new roller furling. I'd like to get some recommendations from the forum here as to what you have and how yours has worked for you. If you can recommend a roller furler that is currently in production that would be helpful. Thanks, Paul

Tartan 27 Centerboard Issues, Part II.
8
?Ok. So we spent the winter repairing the centerboard and reinstalled it a few days ago. An interesting experience to be sure. We used dyneema. The new problem is that, for whatever reason, the pennant, encased in the rubber tube, now chafes against the front of the diesel engine belt drive, to the point that even after only 5 minutes of use, the tube now has a groove in it, headed for the pennant next. It’s a mystery as to why this was not an issue last year or for the 15 years since the Atomic was replaced with the diesel, but has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have any ideas as to how to repair it? In particular, would like to see photos or drawings of the pennant from when it leaves the base on the floor to where it enters the reel. A simple solution might be to run the dyneema to the larger reel, which would separate it from the front of the engine, but that might lose some mechanical advantage in getting the centerboard up. Thoughts. On Oct 22, 2020, at 5:10 PM, Scott Rosasco via groups.io <scottrosasco@...> wrote: ? Download full resolution images Available until Nov 21, 2020 ?Ok. Asymmetrical Spinnaker
2
I've been eyeing asymmetrical spinnakers for a couple of years. Any opinions on dimensions or what other boat models have similar sails (so I can browse the used market effectively)? I'm a little lost... From a random note I left myself, it seems like the measurements are 33 on the luff and 17 on the foot. I'm finding a lot of used options that are shorter on the leech and longer on the foot. Having limited experience with these sails, I'm not sure what direction to go. Any advice?

Hello, I'm shopping for new mainsails for this old Tartan 27! Some medium weight suitable for our winds but not necessarily cruising weight. P: 30.50 ft, E: 13.50 ft, from sailboatdata. Two reefing points. 5/8" external sliders (measured 0.67" wide on the track). 3/8" boltrope foot. 2" cutback on tack. Let me know what you think. Cheers, -scott

The Coast of Summer
5
Hi Cleaning house and found the book "The Coast of Summer" Sailing New England Waters from Shelter Island to Cape Cod by Anthony Bailey. Published 1994. The book is about his adventures sailing his Tartan 27 on Long Island Sound. If anyone would like this book let me know and I will send it to you. This is a gift. I enjoyed the book and would like to pass it along. Dave Jepsky T27 #427 Many years ago.

mainsails on the market?
Hello, Anyone have a good used mainsail up for sale? Mine has a big potbelly. Boom isn't original (the bodge job on the gooseneck was a give-away) and the foot is now 3/8" boltrope but I can have that changed if the mast sliders are 5/8". Cheers, -scott

bilge pumps / Re: [T27Owners] Centerboard Trunk Leak
Possible single points of failure are shore power/charger, fuse, the pump, the float, wiring, switch, and battery. The fuse is about the only thing I haven't had problems with but other people often do. Pumps that have to run often quickly burn out. Floats get stuck open on gunk or wedged on a wire or come adrift and fall over and burn out pumps and run down batteries. Wiring starting to develop resistance takes out fuses. I had two floats, each with their own wiring and pump, one on shore power directly, but I'm getting around to adding a second battery for it. There's a small amount of solar just to tend the first battery since I keep having issues with shore power (given how much Murphy hates me, I should not be sailing). Plan to add a bit larger 50 or 100 watt one for the second battery. All of this is 4200'd down to the bilge floor and (I'm sorry, I'm repeating myself) after fiberglassing over about 20 screw holes in the bilge floor I'm still finding them. I'm trying to do redundant everything because everything is suspect. Heck, I'd do redundant shore power if I could. So far, a shore power cable went bad, the boat's plug is now even more flakey after a late winter storm, and California starts turning off the grid in dry summer storms when we aren't doing rolling blackouts. Clearly I need a shore stand-by power diesel generator with its own cord and charger to backup shore power. All of that is still woefully inadequate given a leak worse than a rapid drip. A lot of people, especially the mobo set, seem to think, oh, my tiny little bilge pump that kicks on every hour is doing a fine job of keeping up with the water coming in, it's fine, then are shocked when the pump burns out after two months of that. This hull #93 came with a leak and a pump that soon gave up. -scott On 0, Carl Damm <cfdamm@...> wrote: > We often rewire Auto Off On bilge switches so off and Auto are the > same, eliminating the off function. Centerboard Trunk Leak
14
Let me first by saying I am in no risk of the boat sinking...as I sit here she is firmly sitting on the bottom at low tide...I came out yesterday morning to find water up to the floorboards because of a slow leak from the port side pipe that extends out from the trunk...the bilge got switched to manual...no harm no foul...Question...what are those outlets for that have the caps on them? Any recommendations on solutions...there is a good bit of water pressure behind those caps so short of pulling to address....what have you all done...picture attached for reference....Sent via the Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G, an AT&T 5G smartphone -------- Original message --------From: baltirobin <baltirobin@...> Date: 5/7/21 3:54 PM (GMT-05:00) To: T27Owners@groups.io Subject: Re: [T27Owners] Ready to go. Painting topsides

Our hull is pretty banged up, but otherwise the boat is in good shape. Today I repainted the boot stripe and as I pulled off the low-tack tape bits of gel coat came off with the tape! What do I need to do to the hull to get her paintable? I can imagine rolling and tipping an enamel paint and touching her up every few years. Any advice appreciated. Marty “Poseidon” Bowen Island BC.

Atomic 4 Throttle and reversing gear shifter
3
Given an Atomic 4 with your T27, what is your setup for throttle and shifter? Mine has a shifter in the starboard wall of the cockpit and a small knob in the same "niche" with the choke knob in the forward wall. Are there not any shifter and throttle levers on the same tree against the cockpit walls? Seems odd as is. Considering replacing both cables given the age and thought they might be combined. Thanks- Eddie

gooseneck toggle -- standard part or suggest custom fabrication shop?
4
Hello all, I emailed Rig Rite and a local fabricator and haven't heard back yet. Don't know if there's a huge long wait, a moderate wait, or I won't hear from them at all so thought I'd ask. Often unless you contact places about a million dollar boat, they're too busy and not interested. So, anyone have any experience with a stainless steel fabrication shop? Or alternatively does anyone recognize a part that would fit here? The 0.80" tongue on the boom and the 1.55" high opening in the car with a 5/16" bolt centered 1/2" out are critical dimensions. Idea is to remove the badly machined and badly worn part of the tongue on the boom and bolt through the good stuff with a good fit. Appreciate any thoughts. Cheers, -scott hull #93, west coast Schock built
