Re: Engine rapidly off/on/off/on/off/on at speed

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

This is common when the speed sensor isn¡¯t working.

If you buy obd 2 scanner like an Ultragauge you can monitor vehicle speed. It won¡¯t be accurate but it is important.

If the sensor isn¡¯t working it will read 0mph.

Recently had the power wire from alt to black box post shortened (it was overly long) and running hot to touch. This solved erratic idle issue and running rich at start. I still have some bogging at hard acceleration and very minor reving after warm up at a stop light. Yes my IAC is clean and im gonna have the TPS checked and set to proper voltage. Gonna also check vacuum hoses as well as pcv stack.

Any other ideas ?

Re: Power steering pump

I understand your concern but it will be fine. A lot of conversions are done this way--seems to work.

However, you may have some noise from the pump if you run the HP hose thru the stock lines or using a "quiet" flex line from one of the vendors. I have done two conversions using these methods and always had some noise until I went back to the stock Subaru HP hose from the pump that runs forward along L side of engine. There are some good posts on THE SAMBA about these issues and this stock Subaru hose conversion routing.

Re: evoscan works .. partially

hi folks, didn't realize this port of the old group actually existed! hence not posting in years.

the farthest i ever got in displaying the binary parameters through evoscan back then was to just have it dump the 2 separate byte values into a column in the log output, and then post-process the column in excel to extract individual values after the run (described on my website ). but, i also haven't updated evoscan in a long time, so i'm on a very old version ... at the time it would have required some real-time bit extraction of the values that evoscan wasn't able to do.

i'm also one of the lucky ones in that my ROM id (7232) is one of the ones that the tables exist with the correct address for the binary values ... not sure how many of the ROMs have the right address for their binary params.

Valve clatter after rebuild

Since others may be rebuilding a EJ 25 SOHC and have valve clatter.... Here's something that happened to me and luckily had a simple solution.

Hi Austin,
Coincidentally, my SC Interface board seems to be not working.
It is, probably, 8 years since I installed my SC Kit.
It's a 2007 2.5 with VW Auto.
I'm ready if chosen !! :o)
Thanks,

Re: evoscan works .. partially

correction V 3.1 is the current upgrade?

Re: evoscan works .. partially

Hmmm . well still hoping to hear from someone an active member who had success, the EvoScan "support " doesn't seem to be responsive to our application (its a facebook chat).?

I found a site from an interesting guy (helped build the burning man temples ! (?.) looks like he has had both OBD-I & II EJ 22s and collected data from other users. So it can be done .

Both of you , If you want to add some details re cables & connectors we might figure it out . I will say it helped a lot to get the B10 Scantool to work just to get the ROM number and be confident the connections work . Plus those Binary parameters are really nice to have . I used an old Sony Vaio with the 25 pin printer port that a friend set up to open to DOS.?

Jason, I immediately uploaded the 3.0 upgrade (free) and I have found I am able to change the units but i haven't tried moved or relabel fields.?

Best?
?m?

Re: evoscan works .. partially

Also watching, I tried Evoscan on my 1990 EJ22 and was able to get realtime values back from the ECU while running, but all the label fields and units were incorrect. It looked like there wasn¡¯t a matching preset for my engine that would work pre-OBD II.

Re: evoscan works .. partially

Watching this thread. I tried to get evoscan to work on my 93 EJ22 and could'nt make it happen. It was very frustrating.

evoscan works .. partially

Hi Again .
I'm using the evoscan 3.0 to fine tune a rebuilt 1994 (OBD1) 2.2 legacy AT NA in my VW syncro. I finally got things hooked up and running . I captured some data . However .
Be aware . the software come with virtually no info and you have to join facebook to? ask questions . Understandably mot folks are not interested in OBD1 applications so im hoping someone here has some experience to share .?
2 things to know . Your purchase receipt has a code you need to activate the software and I had to get the USB driver from the TTL232 cable manufacturer here?https://ftdichip.com/drivers/d2xx-drivers/

I can see a fault code from the black blug diagnostics connector blinky lights on the dashboard (#24) but doesn't come up using the read DTC function in the software ... Q- do i need to connect the black read connectors to read the codes via the software ? will it work with power only or needs engine running.
Also there are 2 sets of 8 binary parameters Binary parameters that should be available :
  • Ignition switch
  • Automatic transmission mode
  • Test mode
  • Read memory mode
  • Neutral switch
  • Park switch
  • California mode
  • Idle switch
  • Air conditioning switch
  • Air conditioning relay active
  • Radiator fan relay active
  • Fuel pump relay active
  • Canister purge valve active
  • Pinging detected
  • Pressure exchange
Q- Is evoScan able to display these values ?

Re: High and sticky RPM

"All the sensors are brand new, I replaced everything during the installation."? Was this engine running before the swap? Did you replace the MAP sensor with a Subaru sensor ( I recall they are expensive).
