A lathe chuck was included with my recent lathe purchase that doesn't actually fit my (1968) 10L.
5", 3 jaw with a 1-7/8 x 8tpi. From my limited research, it appears that this is an uncommon size used on early SB 10L and 13" lathes. The chuck is made by DE Whiton, and doesn't have a chuck key. The chuck key is a square socket (see picture). It needs a good cleaning, but nothing appears broken.
The price includes flat rate priority shipping to the lower 48.

Yes, your 50 hertz 1425 rpm motor will run at 1725-1750 on 60 hertz. I think your motor will have a centrifugal starter switch wired to the start capacitor. The problem with running 50 Hz motors on 60 Hz is that the centrifugal switch will cut out before the motor is up to speed (switching off at 1425 rpm while motor is heading for 1725 rpm). This would be a problem if the motor is heavily loaded on start up, but I don't think would be a problem on a 10L which usually would use a 1/2 HP motor.

The theoretical rpm on 60 hertz is 1800 rpm, but motor slip yields the 1725 you are seeing. The nameplate 50 hertz of 1425 rpm is 50/60 x 1800 = 1500 rpm theoretical, 1425 rpm with slip.

I purchased a new SB 10L lathe yesterday...some history...I've had quite a bit of lathe turnover over the past 25-30 years:

1st: Atlas-Craftsman 12" (~1997) - worked well.? Good starter lathe.? But the small spindle hole was problematic at the time.?

2nd: Logan 11" (~1998-2005) - awesome, tight lathe with 5c collet closer.? I have regretted selling it for almost 20 years

no lathe from ~2006-2017 - just didn't have the space, need, etc

3rd: Import 9x20 (2017-2024) - It was bought used and was really inexpensive, and it made a few parts.? Small footprint and easy to move.? Not a joy to use by any means.? Did I mention that it was really inexpensive?

4th: 1945 South Bend 9A (2024) - it was disassembled and not running when purchased (it was cheap!) I did a full disassembly and paint.??

Broken 5C collet rack bracket - I can probably repair it.? Or find a replacement.? Or maybe not even install it - I'm not sure that it is a useful accessory.
