Just asking
The mongols would drink blood from their horses while they were fighting. There is about 15 gallons of blood in a horse. A unicorn of similar size should have about the same amount.
The human body can hold about 2 to 2.5 gallons of liquid before drowning in excess. It can also not hold that amount of protein without reacting negatively. This is why no one can drink an entire gallon of milk at once. So why do I keep reading about Quirrell draining a unicorn of all it's blood? It shouldn't be possible. And the amount that he could possible drink shouldn't have killed the unicorn. Now I believe he killed the unicorn before starting to drink from it. But I also think he should have brought something to hold the excess, maybe. It just bugs me that it is so unclear. |
Re: [CaerAzkaban] OT: anyone with math or science skills want to be a mentor?
Sounds great, and it's even in my neck of the woods, but I am already a part-time lecturer at UTSA (in addition to my day job), so my free time tends to be measured in negative numbers... And you are correct...lots of 1st-in-family around these parts. UTSA, St. Mary's, TAMUSA, Texas State...all actively recruit 1st timers...

Positive home hunting vibes needed..again.
Hi all,
Never know who knows someone. While I have grown allot living in this co-housing sociocracy this year, my time here ends 1 March. Meaning I am seeking a new abode somewhat swiftly. For those in Canada, I live in Toronto, professionally needing and wanting to remain here. Anyone who might have connections, feel free to write me, different email as our service admin is experiencing issues. karen.lewellen@... Anyone else send up the vibes, whatever that means for you. Re: Alpaca v Llama
All true. The No Drama Llama was actually an alpaca. On Fri, 27 Jan 2023 at 07:24, iiradned via <iiradned=[email protected]> wrote: Found this in my wanderings on the interwebs. |

I imagine once the newly planned Amber series gets started the fanworks will increase considerably.

Frankly stunned there are so few hp crosses though. And, that no one has asked to finish Merlin's story. On Mon, 23 Jan 2023, nancy inchicago wrote:

I would think that the CoA are set up for fanfiction! Yet it doesn't have much. I do wish he hadn't been in that car crash... I'd love to see Merlin's story finished. nancy in chicago On Mon, Jan 23, 2023 at 9:26 PM Karen Lewellen <klewellen@...> wrote: May I have a link to the ao3 search? --

I started reading all of dogbertcarroll's work on TtH yesterday, actually, but I haven't gotten to that one yet. I just did a search on ffn ( ) , and there are only three HP/Amber crossovers listed. AO3 has two ( ) in English ( ) , and one in Russian. |
Re: Even llamas ...
Given the only description we have of the animal is from someone who thought covering an African Prince in zinc ointment would make him attractive to women, then I also must express my doubts....

Re: hp crosses with Zelanzny?
There is another BtVS cross with Zelazny's Amber books that I have read...
It's a YAHF and Xander dressed as Corwin. The next day, Corwin turns up
and teaches Xander how to use a sword.
Turns out there are about½a dozen crosses on TtH. Going to have something to read after work today.

I remember a one-shot, probably part of a one-shot and abandoned starts collection, which had Corwin confronting Dumbledore in his office on Harry's behalf, but it would be hard to find it. The
is more of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer cross - when Xander goes on his road trip, he manages to acquire Amber genes and picks up Sirius Black, who showed up there when he fell through the Veil.
