Pay starts at $20.28 an hour and depends on experience. EDR is seeking a team-oriented Senior Archaeologist with significant experience (10+ years) managing projects and/or as a subject matter expert/technical lead in Cultural Resources Management. This role serves as the lead for cultural resources studies and communication of the results to EDR internal staff and clients. The Senior Archaeologist will have project management responsibilities, oversee archaeology staff and resources, and ensure deliverables meet EDR’s standard of quality. The Rocky Mountain Divisional office of Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. is seeking seasonal field technicians for multiple inventory projects primarily in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Fieldwork is expected to last for several weeks beginning in May. A bachelor’s degree or higher and demonstrated Class III inventory experience are desirable. All candidates must be able to hike with a field pack 8-10 miles a day over steep uneven terrain and be able to excavate periodic shovel tests. What you will accomplish Assist with conducting archaeological fieldwork (including pedestrian survey, site identification, site recording / data collection, monitoring and data recovery excavations). Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features. Assist with cultural resource records searches, laboratory analysis tasks, and other office work, as needed. Experience and qualifications for success Required: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months of relevant experience Experience with a range of field methodologies; including survey, testing, excavation, and heavy equipment or ground disturbing activity monitoring Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle background screening, and have access to reliable transportation. Able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Available for fieldwork on local projects and for fieldwork requiring extended travel (staying in a hotel for up to 2 weeks at a time). What you will accomplish Assist project managers on all aspects of cultural resource projects, including budgeting, schedule, fieldwork, and reporting. Conduct background research for archaeological studies, including records searches. Ensure that appropriate preliminary research is conducted and organized prior to fieldwork, and that necessary equipment, staff, and other resources are ready for fieldwork. Coordinate with agency personnel, subconsultants, construction crews, and Native American monitors, as needed, to arrange fieldwork and facilitate projects. Supervise fieldwork, including archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, and/or construction monitoring and ensures quality and completeness of data collected. Supervise personnel. Communicate regularly with project managers to ensure that a project’s budgetary and timetable needs are met. Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to ensure that tasks are completed in the most effective and efficient manner.
