¡°Seeking Temporary Archaeology Field Technicians, Stone Point Services, LLC. Central and North Texas, $20/hr, $50PD, Single Occ Hotel.¡±
Stone Point Services is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to assist with upcoming Phase I archaeological investigations in Central and North Texas. This is a short-notice project starting next week (Tuesday January 14th). We will likely link several projects together, however, so there is potential for a couple weeks¡¯ worth of fieldwork at various locations across central and North Texas from the 14th onward. The work will consist of intensive pedestrian survey with shovel testing under the field direction of a Stone Point Services Staff Archaeologist. A bachelor¡¯s degree in anthropology or a related field and prior experience in archaeological survey and shovel testing is required. Preference will be given to local candidates (or within a day¡¯s drive of Central Texas) with experience working in Texas. The pay rate is $20/hour. Hotel accommodation will consist of a single occupancy room in a safe and clean location and $50/day per diem. Mileage may be paid in specific instances during work-related personal vehicle use. Required Skills: Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in potentially adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, cold temperatures). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, be safety conscious, show good communication skills, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new tasks as part of a survey crew. ? Required Experience: Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school. Experience with GPS data collection preferred but not essential Must have previous experience in CRM-based archaeological survey with shovel testing (Phase I) Working knowledge of Texas history and prehistory is preferred General understanding of historic/prehistoric material culture is preferred Ability to navigate using compass and/or handheld Garmin GPS device ? Working Conditions: Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed.
