What you will do: As a state specialist in archaeology, you will be responsible for conducting Section 106, ???and SEPA reviews for Climate Commitment Act and other renewable energy projects. ? On behalf of the State Historic Preservation Officer, you will make determinations of eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places and determinations of effect for publicly funded, licensed, or permitted activities for renewable energy projects. ?In addition to working on the development of archaeological policy, organizing special events and summits for renewable energy projects that includes developing and teaching various training courses including Section 106, state laws, cultural resources, and lectures on archaeological topics as requested. You will also work closely with tribal governments on tribal concerns on renewable energy projects and apply mediation skills in situations involving disputing parties, and must interact with a variety of stakeholders, including administrative and other personnel in the Department, public agencies, tribes, private consultants, property owners and the general public.

Salary Range:? $55,000 to $65,000 per year, dependent on qualifications.? ?Preference for this position will be given to applicants who live, or are able to relocate, near our Montrose, Colorado headquarters area as this is most conducive to professional development within our collaborative team environment.? Alpine was established in 1988 and engages solely in contracted cultural resource studies throughout the western United States.? We currently employ 28 full-time staff members and are adding new team members to support our growing schedule of projects. We have a strong reputation among employees, other CRM firms, and our clients.?? Our people make us successful! ? What You Will Contribute ? As a Project Archaeologist, you will serve as the project lead and supervise archaeological field crews during inventory, testing, and excavation projects.?? Our typical work schedule is 8 days on, 6 days off.? When not in the field, you will conduct background research, provide laboratory support, and write reports.? You will collaborate with other Alpine team members to make National Register eligibility recommendations, evaluate site and project impacts, and design mitigation measures for all types of cultural resources.? ?
