California lab tech positions
Applied EarthWorks, Inc. is seeking applicants for laboratory technician positions in our Lompoc, California office. Archaeological Monitoring in downtown Los Anegles
Applied EarthWorks, Inc. is looking for archaeological construction monitors for the Alameda Corridor Transportation Project, a freight rail line being constructed from 24th street in downtown LA to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach along Alameda Street. This is a full-time job and it could last for 1 to 1.5 years.
As this is a complex project with a multitude of issues and safety concerns, archaeological construction monitoring experience in southern California is a must; HAZmat training is a plus.
Applicants within a 50 mile radius of the Project area are encourage to apply. Starting pay is $17.60/hour and mileage will be reimbursed at $0.31/mile to-and-from your home.

The Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist has one opening on an on-going Phase III data recovery excavation at two Archaic period sites in Hardin County, Iowa beginning ASAP and running through approximately Thanksgiving. We have an opening because one of our technicians landed a computer programming job with an insurance company (can you imagine!?).

Historic Architect Position

Which if FYI you are not subscribed to and want to be kept aware of important legal issues in archaeology, and interpretations of the compliance laws, etc... then subscribe to this list (I recommend the digest version because it can get chatty somedays). Cultural resources position available with the Center for Ecological Management of Military Lands to be assigned at Fort Richardson, Alaska, to provide support for the U.S. Army cultural resources programs. Position contingent upon the availability of funds.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship. MS/MA historical architecture, archeology, anthropology or closely related field. Three years experience in cultural resources management, administration, or research.
DESIRABLE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: Experience in historical architecture documentation and research. Demonstrated knowledge of traditional archeological surveying procedures. Experience on military installations or with Army cultural resource management programs. Conducting Section 106, NHPA consultation. Conducting inventories of historic and prehistoric resources for USARAK. Managing the NIKE Site Summit Historic District and the Ladd Field National Historic Landmark. Coordinating the Ladd Field Hill Historic Working Group. Conducting economic analysis of historic buildings on USARAK posts. Coordinating mitigation required by the State Historic Preservation Officer and the National Park Service. Salary range $48,000-$53,000.

The area is rich in prehistoric and historic sites. The successful applicant must be willing to work through dense underbrush in the variable climatic conditions that the seasons bring to this area. The project also includes the cleaning and cataloging of artifacts in the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory. The successful applicant should possess at least a general knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture. The ability to work effectively as a team member is essential. HRA projects in Washington State need people!
Historical Research Associates, Inc. (HRA) is seeking qualified field crew for upcoming field projects throughout Washington State including surveys and test excavations along the Lewis River in the southwestern part of the state, test excavations at Ft. Lewis near Tacoma, and surveys and test excavations on the Yakima Training Center near Ellensburg, Washington.
The surveys and test excavations along the Lewis River are slated to begin October 4th, and HRA needs to hire six (6) archaeologists. The project involves survey and testing of archaeological sites in and around reservoirs on the Lewis River, and the project should last from Oct. 4th to Oct. 24th. The other projects are to begin later this fall, with the excavations at the Yakima Training Center coming sometime in the spring.
