This came in from ACRA-L (American Cultural Resources Association). Which
if FYI you are not subscribed to and want to be kept aware of important
legal issues in archaeology, and interpretations of the compliance laws,
etc... then subscribe to this list (I recommend the digest version because
it can get chatty somedays). IMHO this is one of the best lists for

Historic Architect Positon Open
POSITION No. RIC/ARCH/11/15/99

Cultural resources position available with the Center for Ecological
Management of Military Lands to be assigned at Fort Richardson, Alaska,
to provide support for the U.S. Army cultural resources programs.
Position contingent upon the availability of funds.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship. MS/MA historical architecture,
archeology, anthropology or closely related field. Three years
experience in cultural resources management, administration, or
research.

DESIRABLE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: Experience in
historical architecture documentation and research. Demonstrated
knowledge of traditional archeological surveying procedures. Experience
on military installations or with Army cultural resource management
programs. Experience operating personal computers and standard office
software (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.). Excellent
written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Protecting and conserving cultural resources in
USARAK control. Writing, updating, and implementing USARAK Cultural
Resources Management Plans. Conducting Section 106, NHPA consultation.
Conducting inventories of historic and prehistoric resources for
USARAK. Managing the NIKE Site Summit Historic District and the Ladd
Field National Historic Landmark. Coordinating the Ladd Field Hill
Historic Working Group. Conducting economic analysis of historic
buildings on USARAK posts. Coordinating mitigation required by the
State Historic Preservation Officer and the National Park Service.
Salary range $48,000-$53,000.
