Re: How many are still around?

Well, lo and behold - we were not on it. I added Deep Blew (formerly Re:Pete, formerly Shady Lady) to the list. Seems we are second oldest S-28 at hull #13, with only #11 on the list being older. And she is nearby Rock Hall, as well.? ?

This is an old thread and reply somewhat out of context. ?

There is a registry here if you would like to update your vessel. ?/g/SabreSailboat/table?id=15383

While you’re at it, please and as a part of our Group standards- use your email app or just go to the online auto signature by selecting More, Subscription, Settings and under your list preferences you’ll find Signature and add your name, vessel model and Home port or Port of Call. ?

Thanks all, ?it really is nicer to know who is responding and reference who you are. ?We are showing 1,100 members!?

I have wondered the same thing. We have a 1989 42 C/B on Cape Cod.

?
I've got the same tray that you were talking about.? Not sure what the original purpose was for it, but it holds a sponge for quick cleanups or drying out the bilge.
?
As far as getting in the back lazarette, at 6'1" and 235 lb. It's tight.? I only go in when absolutely necessary.? What I do to reach the handles normally is go upside down with my legs and ass hanging out of the lazarette.? It serves two functions, I can reach the handles and if someone walks by they can have a good laugh.

#1 May be the little same dust pan that’s at the base of the companionway steps on the 362. Sweep into it.

May I ask where the leaks are/were coming through?

That’s the problem, I couldn’t pinpoint where the leak(s) were coming from, so I have been redoing things one at a time. The handrails seemed like the most probable cause. If it is still leaking, the only other penetrations are the line organizer (where the sheets run through from the mast to the cockpit) and the heavy ring base around the mast.?

No third. PO to me was very good on maintenance that’s why I bought the boat. He was not particularly DIY had one of Maine’s better yards doing the work.?
My business was construction related (woodworking) and things were pretty crazy in the late 90’s.?

Re: Handrails leaking?

The sheet organizer is subject to a lot more stress
My wet core was over a pretty big area. Of course, given time, were the penetration only from the organizer the moisture could travel.

The other possibility up there are the three sheeve sheet organizers (it’s got three pulleys in one mechanism to route the lines coming from the boom/mast). That is on line with where the water is presenting itself.

Yes they do leak. Prepurhase survey on my ‘97 362 found wet core all around port handrails so PO paid for replacing core (from the inside) and rebedding both sides . Fastened with self tapping screws into deck alone. Kinda quick and dirty. ?But it has worked (mechanically) for 28 years. Sabre could have done a better sealing job.?
