Instead of simply replacing the Raritan, I am wondering if anyone has experience to share with using an Isotemp or Quick heater as a replacement. I see the Isotemp is stainless and plastic, comes with a mixing valve, and is less expensive than the Raritan. It looks as if either of those might require extending or replacing the heat exchanger hoses.?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I will probably check in on the OTHER Sapphire next week. It might have to wait until after commissioning, so I can pour some water into the drain.

Re: Tonnage Measurement for Sabre 425

Thanks everyone for the indepth discussion.? I submitted my forms...did the simplified tonnage calculation and I had stated that this vessel was previously registered in the States...it's never been registered I Canada and I'm the 3rd owner in Canada.? Now I need to provide / track down a 'Deletion' document. I'll need to figure out the process for this ?

Re: Tonnage Measurement for Sabre 425

Oh I haven't seen this drawing...the scale drawing is very handy.

Re: 402 head/shower drains

Re: 402 head/shower drains

Glen Chaplin, the Oracle as I fondly refer to him, is, among many things, the keeper of Sabre records. He’s in customer service at Sabre and was there during the sailboat production years, and in this group is a celebrity of sorts. I hope that sufficiently answers your question, Scott.?

Glen’s answer…
?
I saw that post on FB, and have been scratching my head trying to find information, or get my brain to work, lol. If memory serves me correctly, I think that the head side drain just goes to the bilge, but I can’t find anything to confirm that. I guess a simple test would be to dump some water on the head side, and see where it goes. I know that it is tight, but if you look under the companionway stairs you might be able to see those drains with a flashlight and mirror.”

To that end, I will run this experiment over the weekend and get my inspection camera handy. I will report back with my findings.?
Have a great day everyone.?

Dorade cowls cleaned ! Raymarine Axion +9RV and Quantum 2 Doppler radar

I am still trying to find my way around the group chats.? Please pardon the novice communique.?
?
I did want to thank whoever said briefly, "try acetone on the rubber cowl vents".? Worked like a champ ! They look remarkably clean and better.? I call it, not new, but serviceable.? Saved me money.?
?
Now I am ordering a new Raymarine Axiom + 9RV and Quantum 2 Doppler for the boat.? Many have stated problem with Raymarine radar but I have a renewed faith based on research.? Guess we'll see....

All the Sabres have the same recommendation for keel bolt torque, remember that’s only when on the hard and the keel fully blocked.

My 34 is 90 lbs as well. Make sure it's on the hard if you're going to remove the nuts from the bolts. You may also consider installing larger washers to better distribute the load.

Possibly a cracked hose from the shower sump? Can you access and Inspect? ?Replacement of that hose was a survey recommendation on my 426.?
