Shari Pi3u Wont Turn On 4
Good morning to the group. This is my first time posting, so if I'm in the wrong spot, i apologize. So, over the last year or so, every once in a while ill go to use my node and I get nothing. No courtesy tone after TX, no boot sounds, no nothing. Also, no LED's on the Shari unit are lit. And the issue is intermittent. It doesn't do it all the time. But now, its doing it all of the time. Unfortunately, I didn't build this node, so I am starting from the beginning here. The gentleman who built it, installed an external mic jack, external speaker, and switch (for hand mic or HT use). There are 6 wires coming from the Shari unit that go to the switch and there's also another 2 wires that go to an audio gain pot for the external speaker that was put in the unit. I couldn't find a schematic, just construction instructions, and they don't tell you much besides how to assemble the unit. From what I can gather, the wires coming out of the Shari unit are NOT "factory" and I'm guessing was a modification of the original design. Id be entirely okay with just getting rid of that darn switch because I always use an HT. However, I would like to keep the external speaker/ AF Gain pot because its pretty convenient not having to have an HT on all the time to be able to hear whats going on. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any help would be great.

Problems connecting ASL / SHARI node to some other nodes 6
My newly-built ASLv3 + SHARI node will connect done to 55553 and a couple other nodes, but I get ¡°connection failed¡± for most others. I¡¯ve found posts that say it could be that my IP address changed since those nodes last pulled the ASL registration details, so the nodes are rejecting my connection request. Does anyone know the default interval for these requests and/or if there¡¯s a way to check or force update the list? The check really should be dynamic - call the API on each request vs storing a giant, outdated list locally. The connection log is empty so no help there. I have a a one node and I can¡¯t even connect to that one. Any help troubleshooting or files to check would be appreciated a. SHARI Pi4V Receive issue 2
On my SHARI Pi4V, everytime there is an Rx sent to the radio, I get what I would call "roger beeps" but no voice. I attached a video showing what is going on. I went through the setup that was sent with my SHARI and the document on this group. Anyone have an idea what is going on? It does this on all my radios. I have two UHF SHARI and they both work fine, just a problem with the VHF node. I tried a different frequency just in case I was too close to something else in the area but it made no difference.

Shari Pi3 adapted 3
Hey folks. I have one of these fine machines on a pi. 3. I do want to move it to a pi. 4. And I think I can do it with just a couple of USB cables. Anyone else done this yet and had success? It looks pretty simple. Two USB extension cables a footlong. Thank you.

Programming 2
I set up a node with a borrowed SA 818 on my Pi 5 using All Star 3, which was working well. I have returned the SA 818 and am wondering if the programming stored on the Pi SD card will work with a replacement SA 818, or whether further re-programming is required to operate the replacement 818 I'm not sure what if any setup is done on the 818 that is not stored on the Pi SD card Any information will be welcome Thanks

Shari Pi4U 8
I have a really dumb question to ask, so please excuse my ignorance. Is the Shari PiXX perform/act similar to a DMR hotspot? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive analog HT to use? I was thinking of a Retevis RT85. 73¡¯s -- Dennis - KD9ULM

Supermon, lost password. 13
Hello All! I recently had a hard drive 'crash' (SSD). I had saved what I "thought" was sufficient data to restore files, programs, passwords, etc. Having slowly gotten most of what I want/need, I tried to login to Supermon. I got the "Login failed" response. "Someone" told me the 'default' login user name is "admin", which I used. Apparently I have forgotten my Supermon login password and I am unable to find it, ANYWHERE. There appears to be no "Forgot your password" option, as there is for virtually every other web site, program, etc ON THE PLANET! In any case, I am 'pleading' with anyone who can help and/or steer me in the right direction. I am hoping I do NOT have to completely re-install/configure my Raspberry Pi. Thanks and 73, Larry - K7LRB

echolink and dtmf issues 3
I had to reinstall ASL 3.0 and am able to get the allstar node with a good connection to the allstar server. There are two areas I am having issues with 1) Where do I test my DTMF settings? When I do a aster cli I see multiple lines scroing. UNable to connect to another allstar node 2) Echolink with ASL 2.0 was no problem on setting up. It just that ASL 3.0 I am not connecting to the echolink servers. I have verify node number and echolink password. 3) Also the COS LED is not working. For me to see the text configuration file I had to turn syntax off. K6DLC

Cannot accept incoming connection 8
I have the Shari PiHatU 52Pi running the Nodes-Venture ClearNode software. Everything is working properly for outgoing connections. However, despite I having forwarded port 4569 (UDP) to the IP address of the node at my router, I cannot accept incoming connection requests. Any suggestions on what I might have done wrong?

getting echolink to work 3
I have my shari node working on allstar. I am trying to get it to work on echolink. I have enabled the echolink.conf file and filled in the proper settings: [el0] confmode=no call=your-KI5KEE-L ; Change this! pwd=your-ccccccccc ; Change this! name=John Hutchings ; Change this to your real name! qth=Paris TX ; Change this to your actual QTH! email=john@... ; Change this! maxstns=20 rtcptimeout=10 node=597257 ; Echolink node number - Change this! recfile=/tmp/recorded.gsm astnode=60017 ; Change this to your active Allstar node number! context=radio-secure server1=naeast.echolink.org server2=nasouth.echolink.org server3=servers.echolink.org server4=backup.echolink.org ; I have opened up tcp and udp ports 5198-5200 and pointed them to the shari node. Allstar4569, 5198-52004569, 5198-5200192.168.1.49 both udp and tcp inbound and out I am trying to validate my KI5KEE-L address through Echolink and it says it cannot ping it. That is the first problem. Second is this: Verbosity is at least 4 -- Received OK from Echolink server nasouth.echolink.org -- Received OK from Echolink server naeast.echolink.org [Sep 10 11:14:59] ERROR[1810]: chan_echolink.c:2302 do_el_directory: Error in parsing header on nasouth.echolink.org Any help would be welcomed.

Shari pihat / raspberry pi 5 3
Hello all, I'm building an allstarlink node with a raspberry pi 5 with a Shari pihat and I can't program the sa818. The node works with the default sa818 settings, but when I try to change settings using "sudo sa818-menu" I get a connection error. Anyone run into this problem? Any ideas how to fix?

announcing the stress-test net (stress-testing ASL3)
Greetings, all: As I have migrated most of my multi-connection-holding nodes to ASL3, it occurs to me that it has never been satisfactorily proven how many connections a single node, without any load balancing, can handle before it completely falls over when hardware isn't the bottleneck. I have a slightly over-the-top system for testing ASL3. It is a dedicated machine with a sixth generation Zeon E3 processor and 64GB of RAM on a corporate fiber connection. This is an entry-level server/workstation-class processor, but it's more than enough to throw anything ASL could possibly do, I'm sure. So, to sate my personal curiosity, as well as for the general education of anyone who is interested in deploying large ASL3 nodes at scale, I'm running a stress-test net this Saturday, September 14, at 3:00 PM EDT, 12:00 PM PDT, 19:00 Z. The aim is to have as many nodes as possible connect to this system, node 508429, and monitor performance and resources throughout to see what happens when high connection counts are reached on a single server. Importantly for this particular test, this node is not part of any larger network. It is just a solitary Asterisk server not inter-connected to any other hubs. The goal is to get as many individual nodes connected as possible. So, if you've got multiple nodes to spare, bring them all, and connect directly, I.E. don't chain multiple nodes together, and then connect one of them to 508429. Using HamVoIP with internal load balancing on a Raspberry Pi 4 with no USB sound fobs connected, and no web stuff running in the background, it has been proven that 141 connections can be achieved before the Pi is choked, and just can't handle anymore. However, audio is very jittery when it gets to that point, at least in my testing. This is neither HamVoIP nor 32-bit aarch. It's a completely different environment, for better or worse. Hopefully better. The custom editions to app_rpt for load balancing don't exist. Do they need to? That's what I want to find out. I've seen very high adjacent node connection counts exceeding 300 on large nets, such as the Absolute Tech Net, but this involves multiple hubs, each holding a large number of connections, which is not what I'm aiming for here. Yes, I actually *want* to get enough connections on this system that it struggles, or maybe even crashes, to see where the threshold is, which is normally a thing you don't want. On top of testing the performance of an ASL3 node, it may end up being the place where you meet interesting people you've never heard before. Who knows? Again, that's Saturday, September 14, at 3:00 PM EDT, 12:00 PM PDT, 19:00 Z, node 508429, to stress-test an ASL3 server running on decent hardware on plenty of bandwidth. I am not on Facebook, so feel free to post this to any Allstar-related groups you are on to get the word out. Thanks and 73 Patrick, N2DYI

Help with EchoLink on Shari PiHat (52pi case) 3

WiFI connection priorities for SSIDs 2
I currently have three different WiFi connections programmed into my Shari Node. One is base, second is for the vehicle and third is for my phone hotspot. A fellow member gave me a suggestion and I wanted to check before doing it. My node is working fine, but I do not want to change configurations, if there is a better solution. My intention is to reduce the time for connection and reduce the number of attempts. Here are the examples he sent to me. Edit the file: /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant_custom-wlan0.conf The file looks like this: network={ ssid="dont" #psk="xxxxxxxxxxx" psk=bc9eb06d1493fdb997dac8224f08b30e4095515f13e99b44576880ac976b0bd priority=2 } network={ ssid="Computerjedi" #psk="xxxxxxxxxx" psk=a0618363258fdec019bc50d722abb4ac20da7588604dd91e18c7a9c6715373d priority=3 } network={ ssid="ICM_INT" #psk="xxxxxxxxxx" psk=753902562fb34f1df8db87fb4a9b620b8e8de9e78119a6d4c7dfc0f0d9529fe priority=1 } I added the priority= line. It should be the highest priority number (largest number) is selected first, then it goes down the list for selecting which wifi to connect to first Rich H W9ABE
