Moderated Chair left at Winter Field Day

This chair was left at Winter Field Day at Shavano Park.

I have the two attached photos, but do not know this person's name.? J.D. are the initials on the chair.

They were remotely operating from the park to their home.

I'm sure someone can share their info with me, so I can get the chair back to them.

I like the idea of multiple modes. They promote experimentation and potential development. ?Additionally, a single architecture, or mode, would create unnecessary congestion. ?It all depends on what the individual enjoys. ?That¡¯s why, multiple modes exist on HF. ?One size does not fit all.?

As far as that radio goes, I don't think it will do the YSF digital stuff that our club's repeaters use. Whether it's a decent radio or not, I'm not sure. It also looks like it doesn't have D-Star or DMR, so it seems to be an analog only radio. That's ok, if that's what you need.?

You mentioned that you were having difficulty programming it - because you had to do it from the phone app.?I don't see that they have a desktop app... RT doesn't have an app for it, and you already mentioned that CHIRP doesn't work with it.?That's certainly not ideal.?

It looks like it's primary selling point is ruggedness at a good price point.?

Maybe someone else on the list can suggest a comparable radio that's easy to program, includes APRS/GPS, rugged, and is IP67 water resistant. If it's a Yaesu that does YSF for our club's repeaters that would be a bonus!?

Good afternoon,

Yes, I spoke with Derek about this radio following the meeting this morning.? Thank you for taking the time to go over some of the issues I was having.

I bought the radio for a different reason and didn¡¯t expect it to connect to the Yaesu digital repeaters.? I¡¯m still troubleshooting with the help of the VGC support team but am also looking into a Yaesu HT.

I did exactly that. ?Shipped off the VGC for return today and ordered the FT70. ?Standing by for Yaesu¡¯s next release, whenever that may be, in hopes it has USB-C charging.
