Hi All Just wondering if someone could clarify whether one of my relays is missing on my 1990 Esprit - I think it might be, as a few of the electrics aren't working - see attached photo Thanks John

Maintenance after storage 36
Hi all, I am new to the group here. I am eager to be more active in this community. I have a 1979 S2 that has been covered and in garaged storage for around a decade. It was running fine when parked. I am looking to bring it out and get it on the road again. What sort of maintenance would you recommend before starting it up for the first time? I was planning to change the fluids and possibly replace the timing belt, but I wanted to ask the experts here what they would do in that situation. What are some key problem areas to watch out for? What would you replace/check while doing the timing belt? Thanks, Shah Selbe

Lotus Project http://www.lotusproject.co.uk/ 3
Just have to call out whoever created that lotusproject.co.uk site - they did an excellent job, this is a heck of a resource, even for us Esprit wannabees! Thank you to whomever created this. Thank you all for your feedback. What a great community. I thought I had already sent this message, but I haven't seen it come through, so maybe something happened there. @Jim: to answer your question, I am located in Long Beach (CA) but only recently came here from LA. I bought the car in Los Angeles way back in 2005. It was painted grey by one of the previous owners but I believe it was originally white. The car is number 752H (I think that is correct; it is the last three numbers and letter on the "Unit Number" line on the plate in the car). If anyone knows any history or past owners of the car, I would love to learn more. Thanks, Shah Virus-free.www.avg.com

Boot Trim Board? 5
Season's greetings to the community! Amongst the trappings taken off my S2 long years ago, before I'd any idea of how the restoration would take so much time, I've found an unfamiliar piece. Having no photo record from which to place this I'm asking for help in where and how this was located. Looks to me like it conforms to the aft arc of a rear wheelarch, outer reaches of the boot. 3 hex head capscrews visible retain bent steel tabs on its backside, no idea what they're for. Pic attached. Cheers Steve

Hi All Can I pick the group brains please.....see attached photos of the dash area. Can you tell what the missing dial is (right top) and maybe where I can get a replacement? What is the loose pipe and where should it be attached to? I promise to stop asking questions soon Thanks John

Can smeone identify my Esprit 14
Hi All I've been a Lotus man since my late teens which was quite some time ago now. In fact I had and still have a Elan +2 and during Covid have bought and restored an Elan S4, Elan Sprint and a TC Europa but as I've always loved and wanted an Esprit I ended up buying one at auction last week.It really is lovely and will only need some, hopefully minor work! I wonder if someone can can tell me the exact model I've bought? Its a naturally aspirated 2174 cc 1990 Esprit - a couple of photos attached. Thanks in advance John

Fuel tank xover plumbiing 3
Had a secondary (the one without the sender unit) fuel tank made, but any particulars on how to plumb it for the crossover tubing. Like what is the threading on that bottom pipe piece and did people put a shut off on that before it picks up the crossover tubing? And heard some complaints about how long it takes to equalize fuel, so did people put in bigger crossover hoses?, Thanks, Gordon

H/L Motor Oddity
Hello folks, Presently in the process of checking my wiring creation up front of my S2 I discovered something odd on one of the headlamp lift motors. The first motor tried has the expected regulator screw/nut setup, whereas #2 motor has a plain capscrew. I must suspect the PO had changed one of the motors at some point but by what means is the 2nd motor regulated?

78 Esprit s2 Wiper Switch 9
Having issues with my wiper switch. Since I have had the car, the wiper has never worked. Today i decided to get serious with electrical, and cleaned every switch on the dash by taking them apart, decalcifying the grime and buffing then regreasing with a thin layer of dielectric grease and reassemblying. Now they all work great. I I then took off my wiper switch to inspect it. The end is busted off.I have checked with RD enterprises and they dont have one. SJS says they do not have one either. I tried lucas's classic website but cannot one one. I just need to talk to jae then. My question is, apparently these switches suck anyway from what I have read on some older forum posts. Are there any plug and play options for our cars? Photo attached.

Oil Switch, Federal Spec 5
Hello, Is the pressure set point known for the oil switch located on the gallery take-off housing on the block? I'm trying a single wire alternator on my S2 so no path for current through the "Ignition" warning lamp. Figure I could feed through an NC pressure switch if the set point isn't too high, would serve to warn if ignition on, engine off. Cheers Steve

S2 dellorto main jet 4
So I dug into the carbs again to try to get rid of that flat spot on quick acceleration and increasing idle jet and holder going to 7850.2 and 62 from 7850.7 and 60 But I noticed that my main jets are 230 and I was reading Hamilton¡®s book and it says really you¡¯d only be at about 145 for a 500 cc per cylinder engine, so am I just honking over Rich on my main jet? Thanks y¡¯all, Gordon.

Paint/texture of Fed S2 bumper 6
It looks to me like the federal rear bumper, oh I got to stop myself. I¡¯ve got a replacement bumper because I believe they were vinyl covered? Originally. So did the vinyl have texture, so that I would texture the replacement ABS shell that I¡¯m using?. And then for the plinth which is the back up, angled piece that supports the bumper to the car, it looks like that should not have texture, and just be like a matte black? And the same for the front bumper?, Thanks, Gordon

Hesitiant at low revs. 14
Hi Guys. My 1977 Esprit S1 has been running fine for some time now. However, I jumped in it recently and it is noticeably hesitant at low revs. Its happy at speeds over 50 mph with no problems. 70, 80 and 90 likewise. If I accelerate hard (away from the traffic lights for example) there's no problem. But if Im just trundling along at 20 - 30 its like kangaroo petrol !! (if you know what I mean!) [not as bad but you get the idea!] Ive checked the jets - holes were all clear, but I gave them a soak in some brake and clutch fluid and a blow with the airline anyway. Checked the float chambers for contaminates - they were fine. Cleaned the filters so they are nice and clean. But still have the same problem. Checked the spark plugs, distributor - all seems ok. What else can I try? Any ideas

Painting: Masking waist band? 7
Has anyone painted or had their Esprit S2 painted and know whether it¡¯s prudent to mask the waist band support pieces. It seems like using several coats of primer and then several coats of paint could build up on those pieces to the point it might be too wide from the coats of paint to accept the plastic trim piece that splays over it and goes all around the car. Thanks, Gordon
