What, I have a couple of curves near my house. ?????? I have given thought to taking my car up to the Tail of the Dragon, and just staying in the areas for a couple of days, to experience that road in both directions, multiple times.

Luckily, I live out in the sticks, where the traffic isn’t as bad as some areas of Orlando.

I'd suggest placing a scissor jack under the lower surface of the open door before loosening anything, not the edge but the largely horizontal surface and with a block of wood and padding for protection. Adjust the jack to apply a judicious measure of supporting force then ease the fasteners looser just enough so it's possible to shift the door. Approach that with patience, it's quicker and safer than just loosening it all off fully and juggling the door. As remarked below the trimmed door is quite heavy, therefore a handful to manipulate.

Yeah, sorry. I was tired when I typed that.

Sure, the Dellortos are better. Looking forward to putting some on my car for comparison.

Picking nits, but it's...
Weber DCOE, and
Dellorto DHLA.

In my humble opinion, Dellortos beat Webers hands down.

You’ll need to search the internet for some. There are Dellorto specialists out there, but it will cost you your left arm and part of your left leg.

Weirdly, there is a Chinese knockoff on Amazon for $258. I don’t know about that though. There are also some from the Czech Republic. I don’t have any experience with them but I think they were discussed years ago, so search the archives.

Another option, if you can find them, are Weber carbs. Very similar design, except no vacuum port so they are a bit harder to tune. I’ve had them on my car for 35 years without any real problems, although I hear that the 45E have a smoother transition from idle to main jets. Who cares when you are running Wide- Open Throttle… ?

Check the archives. There was lots of discussion on carbs, including from Tim the Enchanter.

Dellorto's are an amazing Carborator. To say Weber's are NOT as good, is false in my experience. The Weber's have many more parts that can fail and much more difficult to tune. But if you know , how to tune them, They are AMAZING. The sound is like nothing else. But YES they are NOT an, INSTALL and IGNORE.?
Type? Carborators.

The scissor jack would be the wise choice - it's firm and incrementally adjustable. One doesn't want the door flopping around with risk of scratched paint.

I haven’t tried this, but I was thinking of suspending the door from the ceiling with a strap that would give it the height support it needs, but still allow it to swing sort of freely.?

I drive my S2 JPS occasionally in the fall, winter, and spring. A/C isn’t working right now, and it’s usually too hot out, and the sun is brutal on a black fiberglass car, in the summer. I’m going to a car show on 13 April, and a bit worried about having it in the sun for several hours. So, I’m the opposite of all you people up north, who put your cars away for the winter.

Hey team - I have an S1 - 1976-77 with original ZS carbs that I would like to get working on - def want to replace carbs and intake in favor of weber type dcoe or similar- do we have a source for such an animal?? I hate ZS - had them on a triumph TR7 years ago and hated them then - 40 years later I still hate them!
I'm east coast US near DC

Thanks
