Dave's Twacks & Twains 2
Sad news! I just spoke with Clay Buckage, owner of Dave's Twacks & Trains out in Brentwood, CA. He is closing his business as of this weekend and it is now for sale. Clay purchased the entire remaining SHS parts inventory from SHS when Don sold out. He has been wonderful to work with and has provided me with many, many SHS parts for repairing SHS locos as well as detailing AM F units. He also has a big American Flyer repair service that will probably be missed by the Flyer guys as well. Change is part of life, but this is another S supplier that has provided a terrific and needed service. Bob Hogan

Can someone ID this loco, and tell us the builder? It appears to be mostly a SSLS build, with a lot of embellishments. It's a beautiful job. Tommy

ACF 70 Ton Hopper 6
Well, Guys, Sorry for taking so long, but after months of tweaking, the ACF 70 Ton Hopper is finally at a point, that I feel comfortable this model will go together as planned. I tried painting it as a built-up model, but there were too many nooks and crannies that you could not get paint into. Therefore, I’m offering it up as a 3D resin kit, (trucks and couplers are not included). The cost is $75.00 each and includes free shipping to the lower 48 states only. Please contact me, off this list, mike@..., if you are interested. ‘S’incerely, Mike Fyten Kaw Valley Railroad C: 913-909-1110, leave massage

A long time ago on the prairie
I occasionally tune into a historical IO type group regarding South Dakota--home grounds here! Occasionally I'll come across some decent RR photos and writings about them. Last night a letter from a past lobbyist for the CNW was run. The State Capitol was in Yankton in the far SE corner of the state--MILW territory! The CNW was pushing for a more central part of the state and right next to their new rails! So the CNW pushed for Pierre (pronounced pier). They brought in a train stocked with food, booze and women; and so the legislators decided the move would be good! Apparently lobbying hasn't changed too much! BTW, The main passenger train ended up being called the Dakota 400! My own version is called the Dakota 300! (an E7 one coach, RPO & baggage. Presently I'm waiting for some cash coming my way! Perhaps I should open a prison there too! Not too political is it? Bob Werre Phototraxx

Minimum Radius List 5
Has anyone compiled a list of the required minimum track radius that a particular locomotive must have? For instance an American models Pacific vs an AF/converted SSL&S Pacific? Seems like this would be good information to have before laying track. -- Rob Fuhst Grand Haven, MI

AF to scale - SSL&S Hudsons - B&A RRM tenders 7
Mike, I have one of Claude's SSL&S Hudson conversions. Will take an inventory of the parts and send it to you over the next few days. The key, at least in my opinion, is the time spent filing the boiler. I recall reading years ago that he produced upwards of 150 of these kits. On the subject of B&A tenders, I stumbled across a photo in Mopac Power, written by, as you well know, the late Joe Colias, patron saint of all things Missouri Pacific. In the chapter on Mikes, there's a tender that appears to be virtually identical to Rusty's RRM tender, on Commonwealth 4-wheel passenger trucks, being pulled by an Alco-built 2-8-2. I suspect the design was far more common than we realize. I then consulted my file of MP Mike photos. Yep, numerous MoPac Mike's were paired with a very similar tender. AF to scale
Question, I was asked if I had what it would take to convert AF Hudsons and Northerns to scale. I know that SSL&S once offered these conversions. So asking for a friend whom I don't believe is on this group. Does anyone have one of these kit for sale that I can put him in contact with? I am not doing the work, I am just helping him find parts. I have never seen one of these and don't know what they consist of. I do have one of those AF Consolidation conversion kits that I scrounged parts from. The drivers are under my Berkshire. It came with the AF boiler but pretty much everything else was SSL&S details including the tender kit. -- Mike Swederska Meramec Valley Lines Modeling Mopac equipment in 3/16 https://www.youtube.com/@mikesscale3149 Don't let perfection get in the way of good enough! Free Stuff Sort of
Hi All, I have a lot of old PFM Sound System Manuals and booklets. I grudgingly converted to DCC in the early 2000's making my PFM systems unusable. I sold off almost all of the PFM stuff but the manuals. If anyone needs/wants them or knows anyone who might, they are free except (and here's the big one) shipping. Please contact me offlist. Estate Items
From: Bob Werre Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2025 08:03:20 PDT As most of you know, I've walked backwards into situations with estate items or just the recently departed. & their Family matters Most have been equitable and fair dealings. The hick-ups have been both good and bad. . . The NASG has two documents about estate issues. I myself keep a simple list. I skip adding my estimate of value, since it is too hard to estimate. -- Bill Roberts, Receiver San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railway Co. * * * Notice to travelers * * * Passengers are guaranteed to ride in coaches except for the 36 miles between Alice and Falfurrias, which are crossed on mule-back. Each passenger is allowed thirty pounds of personal baggage, exclusive of blankets and arms. Passengers can obtain all necessary outfits in San Antonio.

K4 SP Decals 3
At the suggestion of other list members, I'll be ordering a set of the K4 SP boxcar decals, just to get the T&NO parts. Otherwise, I pretty much already own all the SP rolling stock I'll ever want. Would a more serious SP modeler like to split the cost and take the rest of the lettering? JGGK _._,_._,_
