Since much of our area is frozen and somewhat non-functioning so I'll use that time for this, in making an announcement that might interest you.

For the past several years I've resold items that friends and families have entrusted to me for resale for them.? Along with some of my personal items I've listed them in small groups.? Sometimes these items have sold within minutes while others seem to remain as future antiques.? I've charged a commission for my time but return the bulk of the sales back to the owners!?

I don't have a large 'stock' of items, but I think I've repeatedly send items to those I've never met so we have done business with a virtual handshake working out extremely well.

However like many we've also noticed some issues with items being delivered late--sometimes the fault is with us, but more generally with the shipping service.? The present head of the PO caused some distress some years ago and now that he about to end his service coupled with the present administration's trend of slashing things. My thoughts lead me to think that things won't get better anytime soon.? So I'm at the point of saying--it just ain't worth it!

So with the idea of still servicing my 'clients' and those who can use these things, I'll list all the remaining items again in the coming days. With rare exceptions this will just be a listings without photos.? If you need photos of past listings, the archives probably has them.

I¡¯ve had issues, written the head of the NY Post Office, conversed with congressional office and have gotten no satisfaction. The local carrier seems to know how to solve some of the issues but there is no shortage poor management, absenteeism and apathy.
I¡¯d say mail delivery should be privatized. Keep the best, hire the best.

We don't see engines like that very often.? I liked the coloring, but the shape reminded me of the Dust-Buster mini van that GM sold.? Or perhaps even with something similar to the Cyber Truck I see going to the car? crushers!

Jerry,
Since you asked, I think that the locomotive designer was on vacation when GE designed the P40/P42's, so they dragged a person?over from Large Appliances to do the job. Tell me that locomotive doesn;t look a refrigerator?on its side! That said, I kind of like this?one.

Re: Last weekend's train show!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Jim,? good thought about sound often being a bit too much.? I had my turbine sound down from the get-go.? Indeed a former American Airlines guy mentioned that over the weekend, that the sound was overwhelming to the crews working on those jet engines all day long!?

Also remember that the SP 2-10-2 came in much later than the turbine and same with the steam sounds within.? My T&NO version has a TCS WOW which seems to do alright.? I admit to have too small of a layout to really stretch it's legs, but then again I'm somewhat underwater with what I have chore-wise!

Maybe a few clouds ... from someone with experience...? I was not very impressed with the SoundTrax unit.? It's great when you start the model up to just putt around in the yard, but who wants to do that with an 8500+ hp locomotive!? IMHO, you get more impressive sounds from starting an A-B-B-A set of FT's - when you program the prime mover of each unit to start 60 seconds after the one next to it!??

Back to the turbine, we installed a couple extra speakers and one at the base of the turbine model's exhaust tunnel.? The Cooper-Bessemer sound is pretty much inaudible once the turbine starts.? The turbine is really either on or off and doesn't modulate (They didn't on the prototype either.), so when it's pulling a train (again IMHO), it becomes nothing more than a white noise generator.? Once the unit has gone a couple miles on the DPV layout, that constant "waterfall" sound generally gets shut off.? Save your money.? I enjoy my SP 2-10-2 with its 'barking' LokSound decoder, and speaker in the stack, much more...

Caveat:? I think most people run their locomotive sounds too loud.? Of course, with sound, as with all things subjective, YMMV...

Bob......Here is some more "sunshine".? SoundTraxx makes a sound decoder for the UP turbine.? I hear it is quite amazing since the A unit and B unit have totally different prime power sources which cut in/out at different speeds.? Perhaps it will make you happy just listening to it?? Good luck.........Ed L.

Re: Last weekend's train show!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I was into that several years ago when Soundtrax intro'd the first version.? Finally DesPlains had a sale (should have known what was coming) so I bought it.? It? indeed was impressive.? However the local shop was displaying a Lionel HO set with all/most the sounds over 10-12 years before.? That might have been in the patent wars of several years ago--Sam, Lionel, MTH and ?? all going to war! But to make matters less impressive, was that the 'on sale' unit meant a new model was coming and I wasn't keeping up with the latest anymore!

Anyway, I was sort of happy with the initial Soundtrax attempt, then wondered why the turbine sound was coming from the A unit, when it should have been coming from the B unit.? However the horn, diesel motor and bell were correct.? Then Soundtrax offered a undated version which, as Ed indicates is pretty good. However, I wasn't smiling about the extra $$$ purchase either!? You have an extra unit, Ed?

It is hard to believe I have been off this project for 5 years.

?

?

I did not have enough door handles. Luckily BTS could still get more brass parts but that took a few months to get sending me off into many other projects. I am not sure if I will really get to 6 completed. My goal is 2 for now that I had significant progress on.?They will be PRSL.?

?

It is also hard to believe they did not get robbed of their decoders! But I now can print parts on my own. I am not sure how durable the end handrail bracket would be if it is not brass.

Last weekend's train show!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I might have mentioned that I ran my RR Gas turbine at last weekends train show.? I don't like moving it, as it's three units so things 'happen' and it did!? I arrived home missing one of the main kingpin screws.? Of course, it could have fallen out at home, or worked loose while running.? Nevertheless, it's gone and spare parts are beyond iffy I can assume?

But sometimes a little bit of sunshine helps the situation.? One of the guests asked me about the turbine as he admired it.? So I spent some time with the gentlemen.? He asked if I'd be interested in a operator's manual for the turbine.? He indicated he just wanted to give it to someone who might appreciate it.? It arrived today, so now I know procedures to began cranking it up!

Unfortunately nothing was said about getting the model to run!? It sure is interesting in all the different folks at these shows!
