Last Night...
when it first started, i got this overwhelming feeling of
sadness - why does one's idols have to get old - just like us
apparently :-) as the movie progressed i got much more comfortable and realized he is still making music and sharing it. i thought he sounded quite good and his playing was great. still has the Neil sense of humor. i was kinda glad he didn't just do old hits, but some not so well known numbers. after reading some of the reviews i was expecting less - and got more... tom "take my advice, don't listen to me" |
Re: Coastal tonight
I wasn't at the iPic, Paul, but just got back from seeing it at the Monica in Santa Monica, CA. I was struck by the warmhearted, soulful, and occasionally funny qualities. I felt like I was right there with Neil, his driver and Daryl.

You really get a sense of what it's like driving from town to town, and also I like how, for fans like us, it shows how he's changed over the years. Older, with a sense of relaxation about things.
?
The songs When I Hold You In My Arms and Throw Your Hatred Down seemed especially resonant in today's world, but every song was quite meaningful in its way. It was also interesting to see the different vibes of the various places he plays in. At the John Anson Ford, it's almost like being out in nature. The venue in San Diego has a kind of seashell shape around the stage, and the Greek Theatre looks like it's on the edge of the woods if you like beyond the back row.

Re: 1975 albums: Tonight's The Night vs. Homegrown
Hi Mike. Time Fades Away was the last album I listened to (on PONO.) Tonight's The Night will be next one I play. Thanks for posting.? On Wed, Apr 16, 2025, 20:19 Michael Cordova via <mike.cordova111=[email protected]> wrote:

1975 albums: Tonight's The Night vs. Homegrown
I'm kind of celebrating some 50 year old albums. Today I listened to my vinyl of Tonight's The Night and immediately afterwards played Homegrown which I think was being considered for release instead until it was heard by Rick Danko who recommended strongly to Neil to release TTN instead. I cannot agree more. I'm so glad Homegrown was the long lost album instead of Tonight's The Night. Tonight's The Night is just a cornerstone in Neil's catalog and things would have been much different had this one been the long lost album. I'm so glad I've been able to listen to this one for the last 50 years!

Re: MEGA...
I had that happen but was still able to download the concert . If they were smart enough to sell digital downloads of these concerts problem would be solved and we'd get 24 Bit High Resolution Audio digital downloads . Having said that they're not . Having said that I'd buy a digital download of the film Across The Water if they would sell me one ... ? On Wed., Apr. 16, 2025, 10:08 a.m. Jim McQuaid via , <jimmcquaid=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: NYA Timeline Concert - Wiltern 3-23-1999 - MP3
Reading these comments on the 99 Wiltern show prompted me to go back and have a listen to this Timeline Concert again this morning, and yes Powderfinger does fade out as discussed. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. For anyone that doesn't have it, here is the FLAC 'remaster' that I did back in November 2021.....How time flies ! Very much looking to seeing 'Coastal' on Thursday night at my local cinema here in the UK. Ron

Re: Neil Opens for AOC and Bernie
Maggie Rogers. She has a set earlier in the program. She does a couple of her own tunes then brings out Joan Baez to cover Dylan's Don't Think Twice It's All Right. Re: Neil Opens for AOC and Bernie
Thanks for this! I had no idea it was streamed.
?
You can make a link directly to any time you like in a YouTube video, so here's where Neil comes on
?
Solo Old Black with harmonica!?
RIFTW with a "Take America Back" chant and a guest vocalist (sorry, who?) and Joan Baez ("Power to the People")
?
It was very moving to see this. Keep coming back, every weekend!? |
Honey Slides V
I see there is a fifth volume of these excellent podcasts now up on Aquarium Drunkard. However its now a patron site that you have to subscribe too.
I am not a member in fact I have just cancelled a few of my patron subscription's as I had too many.?

Is there anyone who does have a A.D subscription that could record it.
