Re: Neil pulls out of Glastonbury 2025
?
BBC will have insisted on showing showing the entire set live, as they do now for all headliners. NY will have refused as he did back in 2009 when only 30 mins (6 tracks) was shown on the BBC.?
?
Fair play, Neil has always had artistic control. It's also virtually impossible to get Glastonbury tickets these days. I went to 8 between 1997 - 2010 but don't even bother registering anymore. I couldn't get tickets for 2009, so went to the Nottingham gig a few days before.?
?
Still hoping for a show at Piece Hall in Halifax, hell of a outdoor venue.?

Neil pulls out of Glastonbury 2025
From John Einarson:
Anybody here know what unsavory things BBC was asking of Neil? “Neil Young pulls out of playing Glastonbury 2025, says it’s become a ‘corporate turn-off’ Neil Young and his band The Chrome Hearts are no longer playing at this year’s Glastonbury music festival, the rock legend has announced. Young said in a statement posted to his official website that his reason for backing out of his set is because of requests made by the festival’s corporate partner, British broadcaster the BBC. “The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all time favorite outdoor gigs,” Young wrote in the statement. “We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. it seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way i remember it being.” “We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn - off, and not for me like it used to be,” Young added. After thanking his supporters for seeing him play at the festival in 2009, he teased his upcoming tour, writing, “hope to see you at one of the other venues on the tour” this coming year. Young did not elaborate on what he claimed the festival had wanted him and his band to do during their set that caused him to pull out of performing.“ Russell Courtenay Solemnity and profundity are sublime in inequity. |
Re: zoom
What a great time! James, Gerhard, Marilyn, Deb, Miron, Ciaran, Laurie, Chuck, Judy, Jim, and anyone else I'm leaving out (sorry about that - there was another lady there whose name I didn't get).? Marilyn, Chuck, James, Miron and Ciaran were really jamming on guitar. I had no idea they're all so great.
?
Lots of love to all of you. Lots of great discussion, including James pointing out that the ending of the song Look Out For My Love is the same as the beginning to Crime In The City.?

Best Crazy Horse Concert?
I hope this might be an interesting discussion for the new year.? Over the years, Neil has shared many CDs and Timeline Concerts featuring Crazy Horse.? This is a tough question, but which live recording with Crazy Horse is your favorite?? Is there one that you keep going back to??

Here's the Cork Docklands timeline concert as a set of 16 FLAC files.....a little bit of editing of the captured stream - audience shortened beginning, end and encore, little bit of volume readjustment on the more acoustic tracks to make it all sound pretty even. For some reason I don't particularly understand, WeTransfer links are now only 3 days rather than 7......so this link expires January 4th ! Happy New Year to all. Ron

Re: NYE
there is no way to leave a message that others can see if they were not there when you left it. Another thing to consider... make a plan to be on the computer at a certain time, and publish it... Like i am saying, I will be in the zoom meeting from 7pm to 10 pm EST. You can just give a little time, like, 7 to 715 pst, and hope that folks stop in to say hi. What happens if you come and just leave, you don't see anyone unless someone is already?there. And if you think of?it... what is the chance that two people will log on at exactly?the same 2minutes of time? LOL. Ya gotta stay on for a bit. I tend to turn it on, then go read email or look at FB or whatever other computer thing, and let the zoom run on the side (so i can see shy people when they come on) On Sat, Dec 28, 2024 at 11:49?AM Russell Courtenay via <walruswebtech=[email protected]> wrote:

NYE
Hello!!! I will be running a zoom for New Years Eve. To get all the time zones, it could start... well, what would be a good time for our Australian friends?? the thing is... no WAY can *I* sit all day on the computer, and if i start it up, it shuts down in 40 minutes if not active. The trick is for folks to come on and message a few people you know and invite them in. If everyone just 'checks in' and leaves if no one is there, you most likely won't see anyone at all. I certainly do NOT want to take you away from family and friends, but MANY of us are not involved, for whatever reason, and this gives the opportunity to chat for a bit with other Rusties, at least. AND... play music (if you want to know how to sound good, ask and i will either show you, tell you, or find someone who knows your operating system to help) Hope to see some of you December 31st!!!
