TNC-Pi Stuck Xmit

Clay Jackson

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Good morning!

?

I have a TNC-Pi running APRX and acting as an RX-Only iGate (PROSSR)??? I had it working about a month ago as a Fill-In Digi+iGate; and took the digi down when a higher/better site came online.? Since then, that site has gone offline; and so last nite, I tried to restart my system as a digi.

?

I changed the config file; did apt-get update, ?apt-get upgrade all and a reboot.??? The first time the it tried to transmit; it ¡°hung¡± key down until I pulled the power.????? I tried a few more times, and no config changes seemed to help.? I did discover that a ¡°service stop aprx¡± would release the PTT, but only after about 10 seconds.

?

Later today, I¡¯m going to try rebuilding APRX in case something got messed up in the updates; but was wondering if anyone else has seen this, or has any other suggestions (I¡¯m running as just an iGate right now).

?

Thanks!

?

Clay

Re: Is this yahoo group stuck?

I'll post something ..... tonight is the monthly 2 meter transmitter hunt and participants are asked to run APRS to beacon their position. Although I have a 4 Line display on my TinyTrak4 APRS TNC to display the position information I prefer a LCD flat screen showing the map and hunt stations so out comes the RPi that I loaded Xastir to last year. If I recall, the Kantronics KPC-3 TNC needs a jumper for RTS and CTS control signal to enable it then I connected the TNC RX and TX RS-232 level signals thru a little eBay level converter for the RPi Host serial port 3.3V requirement. Further in the past I modified the RPi/Debian boot file where the host serial parameter is located. Xastir works well enough to display local signals on the map but I have never used a GPS with Xastir to transmit my location, for tonight I'll just receive only. A120 watt DC/AC inverter can power the LCD and RPi while mobile. If I recall there is a 'Y' cable for the KPC-3 TNC for GPS input.

Anyway, this is my post for the group .... Bill K6ACJ

I do not condone the piracy of books but I do believe you should have the option to
peruse any book to see if you want to purchase it or not. I have purchased a number
of books in the past that I wish I had not because of them not being helpful for the
reason I purchased it for.

So support your local library so that you don't purchase anything that isn't what you

Sorry if I have offended anyone and you haven't mentioned it yet.

Dear Members,

I have not seen a message since May 31... It it stuck... or did everyone go
to
sleep?? I found a neat book on some sight and ordered it from Amazon..
It is called "Raspberry Pi for Secret Agents.... Very interesting... for a
beginner like me...

Take care and have fun...

>? Is there a way to set up a program to where all you do is punch in runner numbers and the computer automatically pairs it with the time of entry?

Have you considered using APRStt?

"What is APRStt?" most people are probably wondering because it does not get much attention,? APRStt allows data entry into the APRS network with a touch tone pad.?

For example,?suppose the runners (or any other objects) could be represented by three digit numbers and locations by a single digit.? To report runner 12 is at location 7, just punch 0127# into the touch tone pad on an ordinary HT.? No special equipment needed for all of the people gathering information.?? An APRStt gateway would be configured to recognize a four digit tone sequence as 3 digits for the runner and one digit for a predefined location.

This is automatically converted to an APRS Object Report with a name, location, time stamp, and optional status and comment.?? Use your favorite APRS display application (APRSIS32. YAAC, SARTrack, Xastir, etc.) to accumulate and display the information.

Multiple implementations are available.? Here is one that runs on a Raspberry Pi:?

Re: Raspberry Distrobution

I guess bloat might mean different things to different people. Bloat to me is all the other programs that I don't need for anything related to ham radio.

Looks like I'm going to have to do some reading up on the i2c driver? I didn't know he put a patch out. I am somewhat of a noob.

Thanks for the info.
