?
I did not ask if you hold an amateur radio licence?
?
I would be very interested to hear about Bowman, specifically are the frequencies designated in the Clansman way, ie 2Khz above.
?
Does it have ALE and is it being used?
?
What isn't secret or restricted even, would be very interesting

First posting from me, thought I would log on and say "hello" to the rest of the group!? Have had involvement with Racal kit over the last 30 years or so, in various capacities, as well as the other offerings from Plessey and Marconi.? Main stuff I have on the go at present is a TRA 967, and Clansman stuff including PRC 320's (in various stages of completeness and working ability)?and 350's and a later version PTR 1851 with applique.? In the past have lugged Syncal and Comcal kit around various inhospitable parts of the globe, with varying degrees of success, and more recently have started to see what the Jaguar series has got to offer, hence coming across this forum when after info on the BCC 66 range.
Have recently moved to N Essex, and not yet got any aerials rigged to transmit with (6m and 4m), but hope to be radiating soon.

Subject: [The WS No.19 Group] This weekend you are welcome

Gatwick Radio/Military Vehicle Weekend

Club call M0VOG may be in use

15-17th September 2006

On-Air Activity Schedule - You are welcome to come or join in !
(email me direct if you want location info)

VHF Ops

The following frequencies will be kept open during daylight hours (or beyond) to facilitate on-site communications and, more importantly, to facilitate talk-in of approaching mobile units, especially on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning.

51.700MHz

70.375MHz

Mode will be FM, preferably narrow-band (to 25kHz channel-spacing)

HF Ops

Participants are welcome to arrive from early afternoon on the Friday, so it is hoped that stations on site will call into the VMARS SSB net, starting at 1930A (local) on 3.615MHz LSB

Likewise, on Saturday, we encourage participation in the AM net, starting at 0830A on 3.615MHz

On Sunday, those so inclined may wish to participate in the CW net at 0900A on 3.577MHz. Net controller is Alan, G4GEN

At all other times, activity, particularly AM is encouraged on 3.615MHz and/ or 7.143MHz

For licensees with the 5MHz NoV, we encourage SSB activity throughout the weekend on 5.4035MHz USB. Please keep a record of such contacts and be prepared to us SINPO reporting.

There are also plans to experiment with A3H mode on 5.3665MHz or 5.3715MHz as a back up. This will involve transmitting telephony with full carrier on this frequency with accompanying upper sideband only, within a 3kHz bandwidth. Please note that normal A3E AM is not permitted, due to excessive bandwidth. Those transmitting using A3H are advised to make frequent on-air announcements, to the effect that the transmission is A3H; single sideband, full carrier for experimental and test purposes.

On site, participants are recommended to use their own callsign/P or M0VOG, by arrangement with Mike Buckley.

RSARS frequencies in use over the weekend are:

Saturday 06.00Z 14.143USB general natter net controller VK4BFO

Sunday 10.00Z 3.565 CW Net

11.00Z 7.070 LSB chatterbox net

11.00Z 3.745 LSB Highlands & Islands net contoller GM4FOZ

On site contact by mobile

Les 07968 007023

Andy Jackson 07752 900157

Mike B 07984 931360

Simon Dabbs 0781 766 1263

(in that order of preference)

Jaguar BCC66HB help

Hi
Does anyone have any schematic diagrams for the BCC66H Jaguar radio?
I am trying to get rid of the 150hz tone on tx, in the alignment
instructions, it explains how to measure it but doesnt go into any
detail as to how to adjust it.
Speaking to non-military radio's is a no-no with the tone present at
the intended level.
Any help appreciated.

regards
Tony

Batteries for the TRA931 and RA929 seem to be hard to come by, at least here in the US....

RA929

Gents:

I have a very nice RA929 receiver but have been able to find very little information on this radio. Currently, I have need of a rebuildable MA934 battery and a manual copy for a MA945S battery charger.

Also, was there a speaker intended for use with the RA929?

Thanks,
Brian, K7AIS
Brian,
I have never seen a 929, but if it has the "standard" Racal 6 or 7 pin audio connector, then the little MA988 speaker / amplifier should work; it works with the other equipment of that period, like the TRA931 and 967. The AC and DC power supplies have built in audio amps, some also have built in speakers. Also the useful MA984 control box has an audio amplifier in it; these can be cheap (mine was 5) since it's not obvious what they are...

I always assumed that the 929 was pretty much the receive part of the TRA931. Manuals for that are easy enough to find.

Hi Tony.
?
Yes, the receiver works on both noise & tone squelch, so it works with normal radios fine.? Tunes in 25kHz steps only.?
Sorry, I have no handbooks for it !
?
Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris

Thanks for the reply, I have printed it off to take when I go and see
the guy with the radio next week.
My intention is to use it primarily on 4m as there are quite a few
people on 70mhz locally.
I take it that the radio will only program in 25khz steps, i.e.
70.400,70.425,70.450 etc.
Our local 6m repeater uses 50.790, so it may be no good for this.
Do you know if the receiver will unmute without the 150hz tone being
present? some mil radio's will not unmute, so obviously talking to
people who don't have a mil set is a no-go.
Cheers for the information, hopefully I will buy the set, assuming it
works!!, if anyone has a service manual kicking around, I would
appreciate a copy just in case.

best regards
Tony

Re: any one have software on fopply for an/pcr-139 racal programming

I have some PRC134 radios which are almost the same as the PRC139.
Unfortunately I have just the MX-1151u hand programmer. I am also
looking for the PC based software. However you should know that even
if you do find the software, you will need the special PC to radio
cable ( connects to the side of the radio).
I believe this cable has some active components in the db9 computer
connector, so is not just a simple lead between pc and radio.

It is very very difficult to find programming information for these
radios; let me know if you have any radios or PRC139 stuff for sale.

Hello,

I just became the proud owner of 3 Racal TRA-929 SSB Tranceivers. I'm
wondering if anyone ou there can help me get a copy of the operating
manual for this unit? I'd be glad to buy an original manual or pay
for copying charges.

I would settle for a schematic and operating instructions if someone
could provide them.

Thank You,
