Re: QMX HB no side tone, raspy thump
Which solder joints did you reflow to address the sidetone issue?
I’m still having a strong band-dependent ‘knock’ at the end of each character. Wondering if a bad solder joint could be a

Re: QCX mini input noise
Thanks Dan, I have done that and doesn't seem to make much difference. I haven't been able to get back to it yet but I'm inclined to think it's more of a common mode issue. I'll keep you updated.

Also, to rule out the power supply itself, try running on battery power to see if there's a difference.

Hi Steve,
I suppose I could do that. I did update the ticket with more info at one point and have tried emails but not a single response to any of those.

Re: QCX mini input noise
Given the observations you made, using a common-mode choke on the antenna feedline could be a solution. A common-mode choke can help suppress common-mode noise by preventing it from entering the

Re: RF preamp for power amp - HF and 6 mtrs. Magic silicon does all.
It is not my analysis beyond eyeball.? Not a debate for me.
Unterminated transformer has a reflected condition that with dependencies will be reactive and op amps dislike reactive loads.

Re: looking for non-US keyer chip
These kits are, of course, legal, as the K3NG code is free and open source.
But it's equally true that the sellers of these kits are required to make
any changes that they make to the code publicly

A slight diversion if I may. I've been following this thread and have come across several K3NG clones that seem "less expensive" than I can source the parts?
There are also several clones out there

Why do you say there is no input bias?? There appears to be a divider from +V on pin 8, via the 1kR under the chip to the second 1kR and bypass cap to the left of the chip.? Pins 3 and 5 look like

There is an app called iFTx , but you have to pay for it. However, I ran into the usual Apple restrictions on data leads not recognised on my iphone/ipad.
Best of luck.
