Yes, you can replace it with a leaded capacitor, but with caution.
The adhesion of the pad traces to the board can easily fail when

Hi,
I’ve found that a wooden cocktail stick works well for placing and holding tiny smd caps etc. Just a little touch of glue on the end. I use “Prit Stick”, which is a lip balm dispenser type

Re: QMX V3 - what's this stub for?
Hi Dave
It's a mistake ;-) And also a mystery... Q202 source used to go to +12V.
Now it goes to Vcc (+5V). That stub is a leftover from the 12V connection.
The mystery is, why Eagle CAD didn't

Re: looking for non-US keyer chip
Actually, there is some incompatibility with new AND old rigs. I bought it for a Xeigo G90 which I briefly owned (didn’t like at all). It didn’t work with that. So I tried it on my trusty 1982

Re: looking for non-US keyer chip
Ultra Pico Keyer has an undocumented connection between the PIC chip and the RING of the output jack.
Not an issue with radios that have a simple straight key connection, which is generally where it

Re: QMX Rev 3 build instructions
If you have a Rev 1 PCB, use the Rev 1 manual. Definitely.

Greg,
All you need is a 0603 0.1uF from a reputable dealer.
Liquid flux, a clean fine iron and suitable vision. I use ordinary x4 reading glasses.Hold it in place, (most difficult part?)

Hi Greg,
Soldering an SMD component like a capacitor is relatively easy.? It would be easier for me to use an SMD than a leaded component.? I put a small dimple of solder on one of the cleaned pads

A long time ago (pre V3.2 documentation was 3/13/2006) , we had a group build of the PicoKeyer by N0XAS (Documentation said "Super PicoKeyer Low Power Iambic Keyer").
