Re: Troubleshooting U3S
Hi Ivan I agree with Warren. Your L1 connection is incorrect. The Rev 3 PCB is laid out for a bifilar transformer, not a 25 turn inductor as used in previous versions. Nevertheless, you can use a 25

Re: Troubleshooting U3S
Page 21, section 7 mentions the OCXO, but setting the PA bias voltage is the same regardless, I think you are misunderstanding what it's telling you.. I suggest you read it again fully.. good luck

Re: QLG1 no serial data burst
I'm guessing the IC1 is faulty. Measure the TXD out from the GPS module (pin 20 to R1) and see if it's locked up or is producing a serial output. ~DMM or scope would suffice I guess. If the GPS module

So I've removed the QLG1, it won't set date, time, location, nothing... the rest of the kit works perfectly, no issues, WSPR signals sent and heard, have to set time by hand of course.. not it sure

Re: new U3S
John, If your kit came with version 3.09 software did it have the AD9850 DDS module or an Si5351? If the former it will not work with software beyond version 3.09. Rgds Iain GM1MSS Sent: 04 June 2017

Hans, Thanks, yes I was at first reluctant to try this way, it cannot be recommended. Then I thought that at least any DC on the 5351 output would not be shorted and that quite a few ICs have limiting
