Re: QMX assembly successful but no receive or transmit
The RF sweeps look like the ones in the manual. All other hardware diagnostics were ok. I did have trouble during assembly installing T507. Maybe I should think about taking it out and rewinding it.

Re: QDX - protection of BS17O PA
Myself I find the easiest way to protect the BS170s is to use a matched antenna and not run over voltage. I have several antenna tuning unit auto and manual, none are required two are

Steve, Looks very nice, SMPS diagnostic info exactly as it should be. The plots look great. 73 Kees K5BCQ

Re: QMX assembly successful but no receive or transmit
OK Evan, I am using Windows 10 and I found and downloaded PUtty. I am in the terminal program successfully. I am connected to my QRP dummy load. What am I looking for when I do the sweeps for each

Re: First Light #qmx
Congratulations Steve, I will caution you on the operation of the QMX outside of the case.? Because you will need to press the buttons and encoders, you can exert pressure on the boards that could

First Light #qmx
I pleased to report my QMX passed the smoke test.? I used a current limited 7.3 volt supply.? Loaded software no problem.? Input current measured 147mA at 7.3 volts input voltage.? PuTTY worked

Re: QMX assembly successful but no receive or transmit
Keith, Yes,? to both of your questions. A short on the windings or an open on one of the primary windings could cause your symptoms. You use the terminal program for the diagnostics, including the

Re: QMX assembly successful but no receive or transmit
Thanks for the help Evan. I did a close inspection with a jewelers loupe and did not see a short. Could a short in T507 windings cause the problem?? ?I have a QRP dummy load and SWR Meter however

Re: QMX LPF for [40m/30m] - Version 1 measured results
Is there a need to improve to meet -43dBc max harmonic or the UK emission standard? I guess the answer depends on how balanced the push-pull is? JA requires -60dBc but they may not give a license to

Re: QMX LPF for [40m/30m] - Version 1 measured results
There's scope to improve the response by scaling the values to shift the corner frequency a little lower. That would improve the harmonic attenuation whilst bringing the regions of lowest loss and

Re: QMX - What's up?
Cliff, Sorry to hear about the busted FET! The modulator in QMX serves a number of special functions that QDX does not require. CW wave shaping, to eliminate annoying transmitted key clicks, is

Re: QMX - What's up?
Thanks John, Well it'll be a few days before I can connect the Q507 again. I lifted the leg a bit too much and it broke off so I'm into changing that anyway. I'll see what those other voltages are

Re: QMX LPF for [40m/30m] - Version 1 measured results
Hi Tony, For the [40m/30m] filter the basic ladder components running from the PA towards the coupler are: 470pF, T30-6 15 turns, 680pF, T30-6 13 turns, 330pF. The capacitor in parallel with the

Re: QMX LPF for [40m/30m] - Version 1 measured results
My design candidate #1 can get -28dB at 36MHz and min ATT above 42MHz is 46dB (fc=29.7MHz). My candidate #2 is fc=32MHz and -18dB at 36MHz and min ATT is 48 dB. I have a version with fc=26MHz and get

Re: QMX LPF for [40m/30m] - Version 1 measured results
My QMX is now fried. So for me it's 'Game over - no lives left'. I suspect you might have a hard time doing 17m-10m with a single LPF because the second harmonic of 2x18.068MHz isn't many octaves
