Re: QDX - protection of BS17O PA

Hi Willie

There was the load mismatch. And the spike on QDX key-up. But for now I reckon I spend enough time in Ghostbusters mode last Friday ;-/

Personally, I would rather someone else did this experiment, and Hans was allowed to get on with his to do list. ??¡á?

Otherwise, how would you know if you have picked the "toughest" load?

You can fine tune the simulated load to any precision you want, but we know the toughest load can increase the drain voltage peak to about 2x the normal baseline with a matched load. (The normal baseline voltage is already significantly higher with class C/D/E amps compared to class AB of the same supply rail voltage, so that's a double whammy to BS170s.)

After all, all these come down to a question of how to allocate safety margins and how to prevent exceeding the limits. The limits are largely known. We were discussing how that could be reasonably seen on bench.
