I wonder how hard it would be to add Bluetooth support so one could listen via that way instead of having to use regular headphones.

Re: QSX Hans' new kit?
Arv Evans
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýKen Is that a suggestion that we need to spin-off annother group for "Homebrew Test Equipment"? To aid in building BITX equipment I have built several Arduino based test sets.? Others have probably done simimar designs and builds. Arv _-_ Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone -------- Original message -------- From: "KEN G4APB via Groups.Io" <lfoofui.nbz42@...> Date: 8/16/18 12:40 AM (GMT-07:00) Subject: Re: [QRPLabs] QSX Hans' new kit? I don't agree with the 'don't care bit' but we should all move with the times. Maybe heads could be put together to come up with some inexpensive test gear in kit form that gives a simple spectrum analyser/wavemeter, RF power meter, 'scope combo to complement Hans kits. A bit like a radio test set you can get professionally. Ideas guys and gals? 73 Ken G4APB |
Re: QSX Hans' new kit?
Really pleased to see Hans is moving forward with an upgraded kit to the QCX.? The video lays out all the wonderful features.? It should be a great kit and a big seller.
I'm a big fan of Elecraft but I've been hesitating to pull the trigger on the K2 kit due to the high price.? I want to get one before production is stopped, soon I imagine.? But I suspect the QSX will provide significant market pressure to reduce the K2 prices, especially if 10,000 QSX kits are sold in the first year.? Or the popularity of the K2 may cause production of the K2 to be ceased altogether. I'm sure Hans has a mailing list of QCX owners.? It would be appreciated if he could mass-email the announcement the QSX kit is available.? I'm confident he'd have several thousand orders within ninety days. 73, Jim? KM5M |
Re: ProgRock
. What is the proper key sequenceJoe, The sequence is explained in the manual, I reckon I had to try several times before I got it right. Fill in Han's chart and take it steady. The serial connection makes it easy to set the memories but again even after reading Hans' superb instructions It took a me few attempts. I do not remember for sure but I think you can only program the memories, not set the frequency on the run. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |
Re: ProgRock
Thanks Alan,
I'm using the Arduino serial display and now can get whats stored in each register setting but when checking the SI5351 output only get 27 MHZ. What is the proper key sequence? in order to get output it seems that this was over looked in the instructions? Is their any way to use the serial monitor to force it to a selected output frequency? ?If I can get this device working I plan to us it on 2200 and 630 meters as a replacement for xtals that I now use in a resistive SWR antenna tuner signal source to replace two units with one. Re: Volume control and S-meter interaction

Hi
Yes - it's normal.? Page 96 of the manual: "The S-meter reading is indicative only, it does not have any highly accurate meaning. In any case the audio sampled by the Analogue to Digital converter is after the audio amplifier gain stages so the amplitude depends on the receiver gain setting." 73 Rod G0VKX |

Ohh, that looks a lot like a project I've been thinking about and sketching on envelopes but have yet to put solder to, any further details? Yoshi-san, really nice job with the enclosure, that looks awesome!

Re: QSX Hans' new kit?
I've been off-air for about 15 years now and have spent the past couple of months looking over modern high performance kits and circuits that would cover SSB and this has already ticked all the boxes for me (price being a big one of course) - I'm already visualising enclosing one in the style of the KX2 / KX3 and Xiegu, etc.? For the feature list and proposed price point, I truly reckon this could be something of a giant slayer.? Watching with excitement!

Re: QSX Hans' new kit?
Old Dog
In 1979 I built an HW8.? I didn't have a voltmeter or an ohm meter, just a soldering iron, a brain, and the discipline to follow instructions.? When I finished it I handed it to a 33S, those familiar with the MOS system will know that as an Electronic Warfare/Crypto Repair Tech, he aligned it.? Other than that he made no changes.? Now then, I say that in defense of the literally thousands of other HAMS, who might have a multimeter, a soldering iron, a brain, and the discipline to follow instructions.? I had a multimeter this go round.? The instructions for Han's kit are superb. It is patently arrogant to suggest that someone who may not be as "advantaged" as some person who does have a nice bench cares less about the air waves than someone who may, in fact own a nice bench but not have a brain... Bandwidth wasted... mischief managed. Agreed, the RTL dongles need to be used with care and an understanding of how the various settings affect what you see on screen and hear is essential but they are considerably better than nothing.? I¡¯m spoiled by having some rather sophisticated test gear at hand but a receiver is a very useful piece of kit that every constructor should have access to if they¡¯re building transmitters, a signal that ticks all the boxes on the test gear can still sound dreadful on air as well.?
