In 1979 I built an HW8.? I didn't have a voltmeter or an ohm meter, just a soldering iron, a brain, and the discipline to follow instructions.? When I finished it I handed it to a 33S, those familiar with the MOS system will know that as an Electronic Warfare/Crypto Repair Tech, he aligned it.? Other than that he made no changes.? Now then, I say that in defense of the literally thousands of other HAMS, who might have a multimeter, a soldering iron, a brain, and the discipline to follow instructions.? I had a multimeter this go round.? The instructions for Han's kit are superb.
It is patently arrogant to suggest that someone who may not be as "advantaged" as some person who does have a nice bench cares less about the air waves than someone who may, in fact own a nice bench but not have a brain...

I don't agree with the 'don't care bit' but we should all move with the times. Maybe heads could be put together to come up with some inexpensive test gear in kit form that gives a simple spectrum analyser/wavemeter, RF power meter, 'scope combo to complement Hans kits. A bit like a radio test set you can get professionally.
