Re: beacon receiver
"Paul Daulton"
开云体育MIke in the bfo circuit you could replace the
trimmer cap with and inductor and move the bfo freq to the lower side of the
"window" of the filter and rec upper side band ala? Bitx20. the first mixer
xtal could be massaged to get right on freq. I built a similar rec for lowfer
using 5.0 mhz injection and a 5.185 filter. It rec 185 khz usb. Stability wasnt
good enough for qrss 30 but it would work ok on qrss 3. I also built a tx strip
for 185 khz first mixer changed to bal mod at 5.185khz second mixer to tx
mixer.
?
N3zi's dds generator would make this rec a real
winner. Some where I have a box of backlit displays and ......

开云体育I've seen this too.
My thoughts were to use the 18.138MHz crystals from
Genesis radio () for
the LO, and an 8 MHz IF.

I don't know, using 5068.8kc rocks would end up with a 2.4kc center freq in the audio output.

I will have to check microprocessor xtals for combo
that will cover 10.140. 5.068if and 5.068 injection woiuld give 10.136?
tweaking the xtals slightly would bring it up to 10.140 or use spectran which
will go up to 5khz.

comments welcome. Neat kit for $19.95.

Cool, glad the Grabber is of use. When your signal comes in here it is strong. I see it is gone right now but I'll watch as the night grows older...I will test and calibrate my Grabber daily so it should always be within 1hz accuracy. Plans are to build a DC receiver with a crystal heater and put a remote Grabber 40 miles from here out in the country. It will be a very quiet location. Calibration testing on this second remote Grabber will be once a month so hope the crystal heater does it's job and keeps it on freq. hi hi... Sorry about taking up so much bandwidth!! - I will lop off another bit of the trick cap this evening when I get home. I will target 5 Hz for my FSK CW. 72 (+30) Newt k0nwt --- In QRPLabs@..., "hanssummers2000" <hans.summers@...> wrote:

Very hard to figure out the message with his signal being so wide. Looks like my Grabber is running fine. Calibration is within 1hz calibrated to 10mc WWV signal daily.

I think I see you on at 10,139,920 / 10,139,950. Massive 30Hz wide FSK CW ;-) As well as adjusting a bit in the upwards direction, you probably want to snip a bit off the "gimmick" capacitor, so that the amount of shift comes down to a more reasonable 4 or 5 Hz. 73 Hans G0UPL --- In QRPLabs@..., "Newton White" <k0nwt@...> wrote:

Have a look. You are in there just slightly below 10.140000mc. The top of the signal is at 10.140002mc right now. It moves up & down as time goes on. I am going to install a crystal heater in mine. Only 64F up here today. Been cold for many days. Mike WE0H EN35hj Paul D wrote: MIke send me a capture, you are my first report. |

I see my base line at 10.140035 right now at 930pm
cdt. Freq moved around until it got heat soaked and then it settled down.Just
got back from Wallyworld, themp on bank sign downtown was 85 degrees at 9pm.
heat index still probably at 100, very high humidity.

I?have a new battery for my lowfer beacon, on
charger now will install it tomorrow.

I braved the 100 degree temp today and got my beacon up on the air at about 2230utc(630pm cdt). Freq is about 10.140070 with some instability due to high temp.
Beacon is mounted in plastic box at center of dipole. Tx power into a resistive dummy load was 80mw(2volts peak to peak). 5volts dc power is run up to tx through rg59 cable tv coax. Reports welcome. New batch of beacon kits
"Stephen"
Hi Guys,
I thought I would post this to let you the progress so far. I have all the active and passive components in stock and am just waiting for the PCB guys to deliver the boards and a parcel of toroids to arrive from the Toroid King in the US of A. Hopefully this will all be done and the kits will be bagged before I head of to Friedrischaven for the hamfest on the 24th of June. Given the interest shown in the kits we have overstocked on boards and parts so hopefully we will not run out for a while. For those of you who want to pick up a kit at the Friedrischaven Hamfest it would help if you could drop me an email with your callsign and the band you want so I can pre-program the keyer chips. It would also be nice to meet and share a drink with any of you Knights who are there. Regards, Steve G0XAR Steve G0XAR |
QRSS and Signalink USB
"Mike"
I emailed the author of Argo regarding my problem using an external USB sound card. Alberto got right back with this reply.
"Argo is a very old program, that I wrote with the simplicity for the users in mind. For this reason, I did not give, as instead I did for Spectran, the possibility to choose which sound card to use, to make things simpler. So Argo uses the sound card defined as default to Windows. If you want to use that external USB sound adapter, you simply open the control panel of Windows, in the Sounds section, and select that adapter as the default for recording. From then on, Argo will use it.Otherwise, if you want some more flexibility, you can use my other program Spectran : which offers the possibility to change on-the-fly the sound card used, and also some more features. 73 Alberto I2PHD" I downloaded Spectran and it works great with my Signalink USB. One note - on set up, select your default sound card for output, else Signalink will key your radio if it's in VOX mode. Don't ask how I know this : ) 73 Mike N0QBH |
New to List
"va3qf@..."
Hi all -
Just joined this list and hope I am on the waiting list for the next run of 30m kits. My home QTH is very noisy electrically (power lines and several industries nearby) so HF receive operation is a bit of a chore, but at least I can set up beacons! The next one after the 30m will be 10m, and then possibly LowFER or MedFER. The calls on 30m and 10m will be VA3XRB (for "Xperimental Radio Beacon"!) and simply XRB on LowFER and MedFER. I'll post here and on the various other beacon boards when I get operational. Now back to my other interests - laser communications and 9kHz experiments...
