Bryan,
Do yourself a favor and build a 40dB (or 50dB RF sampler). Like Wes Hayward, W7ZOI described in his article "Simple RF-Power Measurement," QST June 2001, pp. 38-43 (

Another common DIY mistake is to believe a spectrum analyser while feeding it through a path /attenuator that overloads the analyser and/or isn¡¯t 50 ohms at the input and/or doesn¡¯t give

Hi there,
A quite common mistake at using the broad band instrument, as the spectrum analyzer is, also is when the dynamic range of the instrument is not sufficient to measure weak signals whereas the

Thank you. I wound the output transformer the same way (RWTS) and believe I got everything nice and tight.
quick update: I measured output power with a shorter jumper cable to my meter, and

Re: Suspected faulty rotary encoder QMX Rev 2 80-20m kit build
Hi All,
I Finally solved also the issue about the right encoder.
After carefully checking the MPU with a microscope I found that the solder of this part on the main board was defective, especially

Hi Juan - No, they are different. The left QCX encoder is analog and can't pushbutton
The QMX are both rotary encoders and can pushbutton down:

I got tired of worrying about power ratings of attenuators and accidentally putting too much power into a device so I built one of these:

Re: QMX (80-20m) Rev 2 Harmonics
That one should work, though I would connect the first one in a series to get 50dB of attenuation (37dBm-50dB = -13dBm).? This is under the maximum that the TinySA Ultra can handle but still not

Re: QMX (80-20m) Rev 2 Harmonics
From a little Googling it appears to me the 10 in the part number means
10dB and the 25 means 25W. You'd need much more attenuation than 10dB to
avoid totally overloading the TinySA.
