QCX no transmit after assembly
Hello All, I have a problem with my QCX-40 rev. 4 (2017). After meticulous assembly, following the manual step by step and checking and re-checking all parts, I hold in hand a nice board that receives

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
The first stage of the amplifier I designed/use. Nothing special. I use 2n5109 i.s.o BC547 to cope with the high curent and added individual bias adjustment for both halves to ensure balance.? Second

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Very nice but design, Just a warning for people wanting to try a norton amp. The imput impedance of a pure norton amp gives a huge mismatch with a magnetic loop so performance is bad. You must use an

Related response: On our sailboat; if the boat has *not* moved without the GPS *on* , e.g. over winter, usual fix takes about 2 minutes. If the boat *has* moved without the GPS tracking it's movement,

Not sure about Erik's design, but I thought I'd share one of my finds regarding loops and Norton amps:?http://www.home.earthlink.net/~christrask/Wideband%20Loop%20Antenna%20Amplifier.pdf

Hey Al, Any chance there¡¯s a link or reference to your amp? I¡¯ve just started looking and playing with a 2n5109 Norton amp but would love to see a nice example of a good balanced one interfaced to

Re: Receive Module
If using the receiver module it needs a lo input of 4x receive frequency. Set u3s to 4x the USB dial frequency of the wspr band you want to receive, Eg set u3s to RX 56# # # # #mhz for 20m Wspr. Andy

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Thanks for this info. My current broad band fat magnetic loop has a balanced Norton amplifier, unfortunately not weather proof.. So on a sunny day I will get some long coax cable and put it far away

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
The most important parameter for a receiving antenna is noise immunity. Any unbalanced antenna like an OCF or end-fed wire is a poor choice. Any indoor antenna is a terrible choice, because it will be

Eric, For RX often getting the antenna, whatever it is, as far away from QRM as possible is the most important thing. I'm in a quiet situation so I do not find the performance an amplified loop close

Yes, there is no answer. Many of us have tried someone's favourite antenna and discovered that in a different backyard it does not work well at all. Even "working well" depends on what you want, DX or

Re: Request for advice on first outside antenna to be used with receiver module
Hi Erik, If you're just receiving then the antenna won't be radiating (unless you're transmitting.)? You'll probably find that the G5RV will work pretty well for your purposes, though you might also

Erik Try what you describe as it should radiate. Its not unusual for our antennas to be non ideal. With close spacing the ladder line will radiate less than the aerial.? being at a right angle even
