I just added a Fairchild FQP27P06 P MosFet transistor across the error protection Schottky diode in series with the whole power supply.? Before the drop was about 440 mV at 540 mA but now it is only 27mV at the slightly higher current.? On my QCX at 14 V it got about 5% more output power on 40M than before.? The percentage increase would likely be bigger if one uses a lower power supply voltage.? In this case the gate goes directly to ground, the drain goes to the input side of the power and the source goes to the output side.? In my case I did not even remove the old diode 1N5711 but just placed the transistor across the diode.? I bought two transistors on ebay for $5.50 post paid although if you wait long enough you can get them cheaper from China on ebay.? It is a simple one transistor mod with no other parts.
