Tuesday storms?

Greetings,

Strong storms are forecast for this evening. I am planning on running the early net tonight but if there is lightning in the area, I will be unplugging my antennas.? FYI.

Re: Tues early net

No worries. Mike stepped in and all went well. I’m just so impressed with this talented group! Can’t wait to get to that place! Working on it.

Hope you had a great meal and time with the wife!

While a lot of our wives have minimal interest in QMN, there certainly have been wives present at past gatherings. They are most certainly welcome, but I cannot predict if other wives will attend. Of course if your wife would like to meet those crazy fellows that you communicate with, we would be delighted to meet her!

Re: Proposed New Location for QMN Picnic

Tom, that sounds like a win/win for you. You can taxi down to the terminal and park there. If you do park down by the Prop Blast, give me a call and I will zip down and pick you up.

Greetings one and all,
?
I have a proposed shift in location and a date for the 2024 QMN Picnic. Our radio club (Branch County ARC) is honored to offer our meeting site for use for the picnic. The facility is the Branch County Memorial Airport (KOEB) and it is located at 351 Airport Drive, Coldwater, MI 49036. I have secured permission for QMN to use the facility. I suggest a 12 noon start, but that does not have to be cast in stone.
?
This facility has outdoor picnic tables in addition to a large meeting room inside. I propose Saturday, October 19, 2024 as the date. This is about a month later than usual, but if the weather is good, we can meet in the fresh air. If it is cold and/or rainy, there is plenty of space in the meeting room. We have had as many as 50 at a Christmas party at this facility. We also have a number of folding tables along with chairs if needed.
?
I am hopeful that many members can fit this into their schedules and and that we have a good turnout.? I have included some pictures along with the information. Whether we do this or not will depend on what the membership thinks and is willing to do. Coldwater is easy to get to (I-69 comes right through Coldwater) and is central East/West in the state.?
?
I look forward to comments and hopefully there will be support for having the picnic in Coldwater.

I am good with Larry’s proposal.
The place looks fantastic! And great for both options!
Being the new kid, are wives part of this too?

Re: QMN Net Report July 2024

Hi Tom.

Thanks for the QMN monthly report.

As for the picnic, I have obligations on the 5th, 6th, and 12th?of October, so I would most likely not be available to attend a picnic. Going much further into October would, in my estimation, potentially be a pretty cold afternoon.

Now this is just spit-balling........ I have access to the Branch County Memorial Airport Terminal building in Coldwater (I know you know of the airport, but don't know if you have ever been in the terminal before). Our local radio club meets monthly at the airport, and it is an outstanding facility.?

We could easily have this event on Saturday, Oct 19 or 26. While Michigan weather is a guessing game, I would think that aside from some rain, the likelihood?of really crappy weather to drive in would be minimal.. And since we would be inside, within reason, who cares about the weather?

If I could get an October Saturday set aside for us, what do you think about having an indoors picnic in Coldwater? There is no cost associated with using the Airport meeting room and the driving distance would average out about the same for many of us. (I would greatly benefit because my drive would be just about a whole mile....).?

Also, the drive would be easy with I-69 coming right through greater Coldwater. We would have to drive through town to get to the Airport on the west side of town (a couple of miles).

I will send you a couple of pictures of the facility under separate cover.

Let me know what you think.

?Greetings,

In past years we have had a QMN picnic in late summer or early fall. We have traditionally met at the Davison Roadside Park in Burton, Michigan, just a few miles from the Belsay Road or Irish Road exits of I-69 east of Flint and west of Davison. We did not conduct a picnic last year due to lack of interest. I am unavailable the last two weekends in September. If someone would like to organize and conduct the picnic on those dates, my participation is certainly not required. We could also meet in early October if there is enough interest. Please reply or contact me directly via email if you are interested in organizing and/or attending a QMN picnic.
