LOTW Import
3
Perhaps this has been discussed but my searching doesn't answer this puzzle. I created a new, empty database and imported a "DXCC_QSLs" adif from LOTW to it. A typical entry from that file looks like this: <CALL:8>P5/4L4FN <QSO_DATE:8>20011204 <APP_LoTW_MODEGROUP:5:S>PHONE <APP_LoTW_MODE:5:S>PHONE <BAND:3>20M <DXCC:3>344 <COUNTRY:18>DPRK (NORTH KOREA) <APP_LOTW_DELETED_ENTITY:2>No <CREDIT_GRANTED:24>DXCC,DXCC_MODE,DXCC_BAND <APP_LoTW_CREDIT_GRANTED:61:S>DXCC-M,DXCC-M-HR,DXCC-PH,DXCC-PH-HR,DXCC-20,DXCC-CHAL,DXCC-5B <APP_LoTW_DXCC_APPLICATION_NR:5:S>00003 <APP_LoTW_DXCC_PROCESSED_DTG:19:S>2009-04-19 17:07:00 <eor> If I look at the resulting log, the only mode that shows up is CW. Selecting "Awards", only no mode and no band or CW give me correct totals. I'm mystified. I will confess, I have not tried to use ACL for anything but logging contacts and exporting to another program for awards tracking, QSL printing, etc, but this is messy and I would like to settle on one program.

Patch Requests: Grids, Frequencies, Searching, and Formatting
2
Hello Scott, and once again thank you for your software! I¡¯ve been using it for over four years, I think, and I swear by it. Yes, I¡¯ve evaluated others, and none seem to work as well. Every time I use ACL it¡¯s like putting on an old comfortable sweater. I sincerely mean those words. Like an old sweater, sometimes it needs a little patch here or there. This brings me to request a couple of patches that may be generally useful. Afterall, software wise, if it is no longer being updated it is probably obsolete. REQUEST # 1 Situation: When entering a new QSO, before hitting enter, my option of enabling QRZ lookup automatically fills in several fields as part of the data that will be entered into the log. With the World Map enabled you see where the person is located. This is a wonderful thing. With the wild increase in the POTA program, and in FD operations, along with state QSO parties, the location pulled from QRZ may not reflect where the person is located. This is the reason the grid is updated to reflect a more accurate location. In doing so, the mileage and bearing should also be updated. Would you patch your system to update the World Map to reflect the location updated in the grid field? Doing so would give a much better idea to the user that a person from NY is actually operating in AZ, with a much better estimate of mileage as well. I am from CA so there would be a difference of a couple of thousand miles in distance. In addition, as a stretch, updating the county would be a bonus. As you may know, some awards are based on distance, counties, and states. REQUEST #2 Situation: The frequency field, as presented on the screen, shows the frequency in MHz (MM.XXXXX). Considering that ACL, and all of your other logs do the same, it is generally not reflective of the formatting shown on many radios, especially in operators¡¯ shack. Would you update the formatting of the field to show the frequency in the following format: MM.KKK.HHH? Yaesu, for example, displays the frequency in that format, and Icom uses MM.KKK.HH. In all the time I¡¯ve used ACL, I¡¯ve often wished for this simple visual match. Of course, this would imply an option to show 6 digits passed the decimal point, just one more than ACL allows as an option. REQUEST #3 Situation: Many times, in using the search menu, I find myself not able to do negation in my search. For example, I may want to see all my EU contacts except for those in Germany. If that ability is there, I have not found it. Would you patch the search such that negative filter can be applied in conjunction with other filtering criteria? Maybe, a different screen could be designed for entry of a free-form sql-like where clause to extract a more specific result. In this manner entering a NOT operator can simplify an exception to a filter when a user has a search criterion as in the situation above. REQUEST #4 Situation: You previously patched ALC, and other logs, to reflect a user designated ALL-CAPS only format in OTHER fields. On the main form, this works quite well, and thank you for that. This formatting, however, is not enforced in the EDIT CONTACT screen. Would you please apply the user option of ALL-CAPS in the EDIT CONTACT screen for all the fields the user has so identified? Scott, thanks you for taking the time to consider this. -- Ciao for niao... 73 de Savi W1SAV

New England QSO Party Map
I've updated the NEQP map at QSOMAP.COM If you don't have an account there, you can click on this link for FREE! and create your own map: https://www.qsomap.com/NEqsopartyv2free.php No registration or subscription required. This contest uses Connecticut's new county names and the N3FJP NEQP contest logger creates a correct ADIF file for the map. Let me know if you have any issues, suggestions, etc.. Thanks! I didn't participate in this year's contest so I created FAKE data to test the map for myself. Hovering your mouse over a worked "green" county displays a list of stations worked in that county.

WSJT-X and JT Alert Logging
7
Lately, my logging of WJST and JT Alert has started to give me trouble. After working flawlessly for years, my first attempts to log gives me a failure popup window. I don't change any settings. I just have to open the API screen, click done and it works from then on. I only use JT Alert on my POTA computer, so I have to do this everytime I go out and start the programs. Ross N8GMY

County Line Error

I worked the 7QP contest for a while yesterday, and made 3 county line QSO's. @ logged just fine, but on the third I get a Cabrillo file error "WARNING: Rec: 1 W7PRA Invalid county received: ORCRO+ORWHE: I cannot see what I did wrong? Thanks, Kevin W6AAE

Paid as of today.
4
I paid up as of yesterday evening. I only made it through about 10 days of the trial. I just found it to be the only piece of software out there for Windows 11 that makes any sense and the CAT control isn't as difficult as programming a Unix box. I probably tried six or seven softwares and at least two were installed and I never even logged anything because they were literally that atrocious. Thanks for making some easy software that makes common sense. -- B. Wilson Hines AA5AZ Neuse River Amateur Radio Association

Can N3FJP AC Log be used with PC Keyboard Macros?

I'd like to be able to send more macros than a WinKeyer enables by using PC keyboard F-keys and interface it with AC Log. Is that possible?

N7YG
2
Good morning, I would like help me doing RTTY. I'll tell you what I do most is FT8, and I'd also like to do RTTY. For that, I download N7YG. After trying to follow the instructions on everything I found, I managed to connect my Yaesu 991A to the program, but I couldn't transmit. What frustrated me was that I went back to doing FT8 and couldn't. I didn't know what had changed, or that the FT8 configuration had changed. Is there a program that has FT8-RTTY_CW on a single platform that can be done? Thanks to everyone. P.D your program is the best

CA QSO party

How do I log two CA counties given to me from a CA station? CQP's instructions say use a "+" between the two counties but N3FJP says not valid. Thank you, Bob W4JFA

N3FJP integrating with FLRig for non-digital uses
5
Hello everyone! For digital modes, I've gotten a good integration setup between FLRig, WSJT-X, Gridtracker, and ACLog - WSJT-X talks to FLRig for rig control, feeds data over to GridTracker, which triggers logging of contacts in ACLog. However, I would like to also utilize FLRig for Rig Control for non-digital uses as well - so I'd like to see if anyone has built a tool that can act as a go-between from the FLRig XML-RPC server, and the ACLog API. If there's not already something available, I might see if I can come up with something, as I do have some programming knowledge - but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if there's already something out there. Thanks in advance! Jeremy, NQ0M

Address in Comments while on lookup, but clears when log save - Fldigi
4
I am using Fldigi with N3FJP log. When I start a QSO in Fldigi, it sends the call sign to N3FLP log and does a lookup completely as expected. The call sign address is in the comments field. When the QSO finishes and Fldigi tells it to log the call, all the information goes to N3FJP log except the address that was in the comment field from the earlier lookup is cleared out and the comments field is blank. I have read and searched and not been successful in finding how to keep that address without doing a secondary address lookup in N3FJP log which means turning off the QRZ open image and bio and then turning it back on after. Is there a check box, or setting I missed? Appreciate any suggestions as to where to look. 73 Bill w1wrh

QSL Cards
5
Hi Scott and all... Is there a method for entering a QSO confirmation when I get a physical, paper QSL card? I have several cards that I would like to apply to certain contacts as confirmed (they don't use LoTW) but I don't see a spot for it. Perhaps it's a letter in the "Received Confirmation By" field, like is used for LoTW (L) or (Q) for QRZ? Thanks for any help.... -- Tom VE3II ve3ii@... Mobile/WhatsApp: +1 705-791-0048

FT-891 problems using CW Setup form
I will be operating as W9C in the INQP this Saturday and have successfully defined the F1-F4 keys in the CW Setup Form to program memories 1-4 in the FT-891. The F5 doesn¡¯t seem to work and I¡¯m sure I¡¯ve made a mistake. I checked the FT-891 to be sure all 5 memories are set to ¡°text¡±. I copied the F1-F5 definitions from the CW Setup form into notepad and took a photo. Can anyone help find my mistake that would explain why the F5 key doesn¡¯t play ¡°W9C¡±? im sure it¡¯s something simple but I can¡¯t spot it. 73 de WB0TUA

Contest software
15
#aclog
#codes
#contest
I noticed that there has been plenty of software created for contests; however, I also noticed that there are plenty of contests without a contest software. I also understand the difficulties of programming a software. But I was wondering if there's a way for a generic contesting software, where the user can put in the necessary exchange for the contest that your users (me) can use for the specific contest? -- Stephen Cullen Maple Grove Radio Club Vice President KF0AED "Keep your eyes on the sky, but your head out of the clouds."

How do I keep AC Log straight on settings/credentials if I'm logging for another call sign (like a club call)?
11
I use N3FJP AC Log for my own logs and for our Scout Camp Club (K4TBS). We have an event coming up and want to use AC Log because of seamless integration into WSTJ-X, Fldigi, etc., but I've run into an issue. If I'm not very careful, credentials for my personal get used on the club call or vice versa. Because of this, I've turned off auto upload features in LOTW/QRZ. I have AC Log set to prompt setup when starting, but it does not seem to save these based on the log file being used. It seems to be based on the last settings. The club has it's own LOTW account and it's own QRZ log. The credentials for uploading to QRZ/LOTW do not seem to be saved based on the log file being used and if I'm not very careful, I could accidentally upload my personal to the club or vice versa. Deleting these would be a nightmare (especially from LOTW). Does anyone else similarly manage personal log and a club log with AC Log? How do you manage this? Manually? Is there a script I can setup to do all this for me either before or after launch of AC Log? Or do you just not try to do this and use another logger to do your club? K4ZX
