N3FJP integrating with FLRig for non-digital uses
Hello everyone!
For digital modes, I've gotten a good integration setup between FLRig, WSJT-X, Gridtracker, and ACLog - WSJT-X talks to FLRig for rig control, feeds data over to GridTracker, which triggers logging of contacts in ACLog. However, I would like to also utilize FLRig for Rig Control for non-digital uses as well - so I'd like to see if anyone has built a tool that can act as a go-between from the FLRig XML-RPC server, and the ACLog API. If there's not already something available, I might see if I can come up with something, as I do have some programming knowledge - but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if there's already something out there. Thanks in advance! Jeremy, NQ0M |
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your e-mail.? I've not heard of anyone creating the interface that you describe.? Thanks for considering taking on the project! Reposting to correct some errors (most importantly, to options on the rigctlcom command) ...
I just got this working a few days ago, and it was much less painful than I expected. I have ACLog talking to flrig for CAT control of my IC-7300 on Windows 10. I am not by my computer right now, so I'll just give on overview here (from memory, so things will be less than perfect) now and a more detailed write-up later. First, get the com0com package. Use it to create a cross connected pair of virtual com ports, such as COM20 and COM21. Then, you use rigctlcom, which is part of hamlib (and included with WSJT), to create a simulated Kenwood TS-2000 front end to flrig and point it at the COM21 port. Through the magic of com0com, it now looks like there's a TS-2000 connected to COM20. Then configure ACLog to talk to that (fake) TS-2000 on COM20, and away you go. A little more detail ... com0com is a GUI that creates those cross-connected com ports with whatever numbers you want. I went high to avoid conflicts with system-generated names. These ports persist across reboots, so you just do this once. rigctlcom is a command line tool, and it needs to continue to run. The parameters, I think, are: ?-m 4 -R COM20 -S 4800 (and I just remembered that when configuring ACLog, you need to match the speed, such as 4800) Even though some of that is a little off, I hope that is enough to get you going. By the way, you can have multiple instances, with different com port pairs, for other apps. -- Bob Meyer? Please upload your logs to ! |
Bob,
?
I just want to thank you for your post. I came across it as I was looking for a way to accomplish a similar goal. My primary computer for radio use is a Raspberry Pi running Linux. I run WSJT-X, fldigi, and others on that Pi but I have a Windows PC for running AC Log. Those programs talk fine to AC Log over the network and that meets most of my needs. My problem is when not using one of those, I have no connection between the radio and the Windows PC. I can move the USB cable from the Pi to the Windows PC but it's a hassle to do that back and forth all the time. With what you outlined, I was able to run Hamlib's network server (rigctld) on the Pi to talk to the radio, use rigctlcom as a client on the Windows PC, and the virtual com ports (com0com) to connect that to AC Log. Everything works great!
?
Thanks again and 73,

I use flrig on both computers.?? Setup as server/client.? It should give cat via network then your pi should log correctly sent by ve3wej on samsung s21+ On Sun, May 4, 2025, 5:55?a.m. Alan (WD5FCA) via <alan.hargrave=[email protected]> wrote:
