Running 2 registrations
10
I need to run two copies of the N3FPJ software on the same laptop, one for personal use and one for club use. I would like to know how to do that. One registration will be for club use during POTA activations, events, contest, etc. That one will be for the complete software package. Club logs during these events will be kept on my laptop. The other registration will be for my personal call and will just be for Amateur Contact Log. I operate from two different QTHs so I want to have a copy on my laptop, and a copy on my desktop, with the shared log file kept on a central storage that is reachable by both. So the laptop needs to be able to run either one with club logs and access to my master log, and the desktop just needs to be able to run my registration. What is the best way to set this up to accomplish this? Thanks!

Double Entry
2
Occasionally, AC Log will do double entries when logging from WSJT. I did not hit the log button twice, and it doesn't happen all the time but it happens often enough that it is a pain to delete the duplicate contact, resort the log. This started a few months ago. Has anyone else experienced this phenomena? Rick NY1V

DX Cluster Columns - can unused columns be removed?
2
I always have the DX cluster running. Sometimes I have to move the app to one of my other monitors. When I do the DX cluster columns squeeze together. I only really need a few. I squeeze the rest together so they don't show, but they're still there. Is there a way to remove them? Thx W3WTW

N7YG Digital Interface (RTTY) with ACL
3
I decided to finally install N7YG with ACL so I had could easily work DX RTTY and still have ACL active. The install was easy, and I got it up and running with few bumps. However, I still have some issues. If I want to do some freestyle keyboard "Talking" to a station, how can I do that? During this recent RTTY RU, using other contest software, I had several reasons to type messages to the other station. Can this be done with N7YG when only using ACL? The second issue was ACL not logging the QSO as RTTY. In ACL I have "Rig Interface /Mode Determined By" set to "Don't Use". In W7YG I have "Send Mode". How do I get N7YG to report RTTY as the mode when logging through N7YG? Thanks for the help.

Enter a call in the CALL entry issue
3
I enter a call in the CALL entry window hit Tab and all my previous contacts with that call appear like using FIND. I have rebooted the program and the computer but no joy. It has worked flawlessly on this Windows 11 computer for the past few years. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Marv W0PSY

RTTY RU CONTEST LOG THROWS RIG INTO CW MODE FROM DATA MODE
7
I playing in the RTTY RU contest with the following setup: K4D, AClog (newest version) contest log, Fldigi v. 2.06. Rig is on COM 6, AClog is on COM 7, TCP API is Enabled. Everything was working great until a couple of hours ago. Now when I change frequencies using the rig, it throws the rig into CW mode from DATA mode. I have turned on and off the various software programs and found that this is happening only when I'm running AClog with Fldigi. It doesn't happen when I'm running only Fldigi. Any thoughts on how to fix? Thanks, Jim Ruff W7JHR

Old Field Day Logs
5
Has anyone gone back and harvested old Field Day logs for the purpose of uploading to LOTW? I have database files from many years, and have no issues loading them back to through 2013. Older database files will not load and produce a “No value given for one or more required parameters” and a “Cannot find table 0.” I suspect this is product of Access database updates, but am curious if anyone has a clean way around this. Thanks and 73, Joe n0sd (formerly kk0sd)

Weird (startup) behavior of Amateur Contact Log with WSJT-X and GridTracker
2
I have a strange issue that consistently happens between Amateur Contact Log, WSJT-X, and GridTracker. I have successfully set everything all three programs up so that they can communicate with each other via the API interface, and everything is working, except upon initial launch of the three applications! When I first start the applications, GridTracker does not receive any live updates; however, if I go into the API settings in Amateur Contact Log and wait for a single message to be received from WSJT-X (e.g., <6 seconds), then GridTracker starts receiving live data without any further issue for that session. Any ideas on what is going on, and what I need to do so I don't need to manually go into the API menu every time to sync up all three programs? Thanks!

Amateur Contact Log 7.0.11, New Contest Versions and Contest Software Tips!
17
Hi All, Chris, Kimberly and I hope that you are having a wonderful Christmas, New Year and holiday season! We have some announcements to share and then some helpful contest software tips that follow... Amateur Contact Log 7.0.11 and New Versions of All Contest Programs are Now Available! Enhancements for all programs include: - Ability to pause DX Spots list scrolling (Ctrl + U). - Ability to filter DX spots posted from specific calls (Settings > DX Spotting > More Filtering). - API tags for user customized other fields sent with INCLUDEALL (requested from other developers interfacing with our software via API). - GetOtherFieldTitles API command (requested from other developers interfacing with our software via API). - Crtl + PgUp / PgDn 5000 Hz tune (or 1000 Hz with shift) for rig interface with Sprint in mind. And in addition to the above, AC Log enhancements also include: - Option to force capital letters for Other fields now also applies to the Edit form (Settings > Other Field Titles). - Added option for default Time On / Off values to include seconds (Settings > Date Options). - Corrects bulk edit function on Mode (tst) field. - Includes My_Cnty, My_Grid, Grid, State worked and MY_STATE for QRZ / eQSL upload. - QRZ Callbook lookup timeout reduced to 20 seconds. As always, upgrades are free to registered users. If you are currently running a version of our software released after January 2021, AC Log and the contest software should detect the new upgrade and offer to retrieve it for you on start. If you have any problem with the automatic upgrade, or you are running an older version, you can follow these AC Log upgrade steps: https://www.n3fjp.com/upgradestepsaclog.html And these contest software upgrade steps. https://www.n3fjp.com/upgradestepscontest.html N3FJP Software Contest Tips! Whether you are just sitting down to make a few contest QSOs or you have a serious effort in mind, fully enjoying all the tools and features that we have built into our software will enhance your performance and fun! With that in mind, I'd like to share how I use our software on contest weekends and hopefully give you some ideas to try in the next one. First, a little perspective on my use case. I'm by no means a top contester. I still have a lot to learn and opportunities to improve. That said, I made over 1,700 QSOs in CQ World Wide DX SSB and and over 1,500 in CQ World Wide DX CW this 2024 season (thanks largely to the stellar conditions we've been enjoying), so I might have a few insights to offer, especially in how we designed our software to help accomplish that, and have a ton of fun along the way! We live in a residential neighborhood with a community association, so I don't have a tower, but I do have some high trees in the backyard (hex beam spreaders painted brown blend really well into the trees). In short, my station here in Maryland consists of: - A fixed hex beam pointed NE for Europe, hanging from a tree limb at just over 30 feet. - A fixed hex beam pointed S for South America, hanging from a tree limb at just over 30 feet. - A fan dipole for 20/15/10 oriented to radiate NW / SE for Africa, AK, HI, VK, JA and Caribbean. - A 40M dipole radiating NE / SW (used primarily for Europe). - A 40M dipole radiating NW / SE for AK, HI, VK, JA and Caribbean. - A 160 / 80 fan dipole. - My typical contest entry is Single Op, High Power, Assisted (assisted in my case is using DX spotting). For me, putting 25 to 30 hours into a 48 hour contest weekend is a full effort, so I want to make the most of every hour I'm in the chair (which is typically very early morning until dinner time Saturday and Sunday, as I am an early to bed, early to rise guy). With good conditions, for a major DX contest, I usually aim for a 1,000 - 1,500 Q effort. I should also mention that my contest style is mostly search and pounce. I LOVE running a frequency when I can, but not being a big gun, conditions have to be really good for me to hold a frequency and sustain a run for any length of time in DX contests. On the other hand, with DX spotting, I find search
