Re: Networking log
For a shared log, you must make one of the workstations share its log directory, and the other ones must open that log file via the network share (or use the new TCP mode). On Sun, Jul 23, 2023 at 12:22?PM Michael Coslo <mjcn3li@...> wrote: Hey all, --

Networking log
Hey all,
I¡¯m learning the networking between multiple computers using N3FJP software. They see each other, and can pass messages back and forth, and give me warning messages, and log. I don¡¯t see the contacts on one computer on the other computer, just the ones made from that particular computer on it¡¯s own screen. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in the setup. I think I followed the instructions correctly. This is of course a really open ended question, and will probably require me to answer a lot more questions, but Thanks in advance! - 73 - - Michael Coslo N3LI - Frequency Coordinator, Beaver Stadium President, Nittany Amateur Radio Club mjc5@... mjcn3li@... Hi Randy, Thanks for your e-mail.? For rig control, when interfacing another application with our software, since Windows won't allow port sharing among programs, you have three options for rig interface: 1. Use the connected program to perform rig interface. In that case, from the N3FJP program menu options click Settings > Rig Interface and select None from the rig list. 2. Use rig interface from N3FJP software and disabled rig interface from the connected program. If your rig is set to USB for digital, to only have N3FJP Software respond to mode updates sent from the connected program, click Settings > Rig Interface. Under the Mode By options, select Mode by Frequency (to return the digital mode based on frequency) or Don't Use (if the connected program is accurately returning mode). Also, if you will be clicking on DX Spots to change frequencies in the digital subband, check the check box that says "Don't send mode change with frequency". 3. Use a virtual com port splitter. We've not beta tested this option here, but there have been good reports from others on the Users group. Re: 7300 CW key AND rig control
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes, understood. My original question related to the difference
between the 7300 and the 7610. The 7610 allows CW keying and rig control on two com ports but
over ONE usb cable. The 7300 you need the USB cable as well as the remote (1/8" TRS) cable. And, as I said...I think the 705 works like the 7610 also. ...Dave On 7/19/23 10:52 AM, K8TS wrote:
Andre is correct.? There is a port on the rear apron of the IC7300 that requires an A-B (printer type) cable to connect to the computer. When the Silicone Labs software is downloaded BEFORE CONNECTING THE USB CABLES?it will establish two comports. One will be used for keying and the other for rig control. When you check your device manager you will find the com ports. The com port numbers will vary by computer so they may be numbered differently from computer to computer. On my laptop they are Com 3 & 9, on my desktop they show up as 3 & 4. If you don't see them, go to Device Manager>View>All Hidden and they should show up perhaps greyed out. (one will show up as UART bridge and the other completely identifiable) There is no video output on the 7300, unlike the 7610. WIN4Icom can establish that with limited success.
