ARRL Contest Log 2.0 Now Available, Field Day Reminder & Digital Bridge E-mail Group!

Hi All,
?
I have a couple quick announcements to share:
?
?
ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest Log 2.0 is Now Available!
?
This is the latest completed program in my series of rewrites, converting all my software from VB6 to C#.NET. It has all the enhancements that you've come to enjoy in the new rewrites.
You'll find the new?ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest Log 2.0 software here:?
?
?
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users. Of course, this includes our N3FJP Software Package users!
?
You'll find both the new C#.NET version and the older, tried and true VB6 version on the web site. ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest Log 2.0 is brand new, better, has additional features not found in the VB6 version and continues the upgrades and enhancements reflected in all the programs I've rewritten in C#.NET so far.? While the new, C#.NET versions already released this year have performed very well, this will be the first use as applied specifically to this contest. It's always possible that a contest specific scoring bug?remains to be found, so I want to give you the option of using the VB6 version if you prefer.
?
Version 2.0 does not interface with K7RE RTTY (which no longer seems to be available), but it will interface with DM 780 (including the free version - details below), using the W4ELP Lookup Utility:
?
?
?
Enjoy!
?
?
Field Day is Just Over a Month Away - Get Ready!
?
If you plan to?use a network for Field Day this year and?haven't already done so, it's time to get all the PCs you'll be using together and make sure your network is all set.? Don't forget to enable permissions to Update, not just Read, on the?file, folder and drive!? Also, please remember that for networking, ALL stations on your network?must use either the old VB6 version (Field Day Network Log 2.7)?or the new C#.NET version 4.2.? You can't mix both and access the common data file.? This page will help you decide which version to use:
?
?
?
I'm not a hardware or OS guy, so I can't help with those sorts of network setup questions, but I have lots of details on setting up the Field Day software on your network here:
?
?
?
And here:
?
?
?
Please be sure to set up and give your network a good test well before Field Day weekend.? Problems easily solved in a relaxed atmosphere can seem insurmountable when the clock is ticking.???
?
?
W4ELP Lookup Utility E-mail Group!
?
As I've mentioned previously, Ed, W4ELP and Rick, N8SDR have built an interface between the DM 780 digital program?(including the free version of?DM 780,?which they have available for download from their site)?and many of my contesting programs, including Field Day, ARRL RTTY Roundup and others.? You'll find their interface program, a free version of DM 780 and lots of information here:
?
?
?
They have now set up an e-mail group for support and beta testing.? If you need help with their bridge program or you would like to help beta test the program's development, please subscribe here:

Kaspersy Blocking Log File Access

Hi All,
?
I've had several reports?of folks starting AC Log and being unable to access their log file today after everything was?working fine yesterday.? The error message they are receiving states:
?
"Cannot open the Microsoft Jet engine workgroup information file."
?
After much research by many of us, Steve, WA6DUN discovered the answer.? It is actually being caused by Kaspersky?System Watcher?software.? Steve writes:
?
?
FIX FOUND!
It's Kapersky's System Watcher!? They have acknowledged the problem and have a fix on the way. SEE:?
Steve WA6DUN
?
If you are in this camp, hopefully Kaspersky will issue their fix quickly and get you up and running soon.? Please follow the Kaspersky link for status updates.

FAQs From Folks Operating as W1AW/X

Hi All,
?
With all the?Amateur Contact Log users volunteering to put W1AW on the air during ARRL's Centennial celebration this year, I'm?constantly receiving these questions, so I thought I would provide the answers here:
?
?
How do I start a new log for the contacts I log as W1AW?
?
-? From AC Log 4.6's menu options click File > New > Start a New Log with a New Database File.
?
-? Don't use the same name as your current log file.? Enter a new, valid file name such as W1AW.mdb.? Do not attempt to include a / or other invalid file name characters.
?
You should now be all set with your new log file to use for your W1AW contacts.? After you have finished operating as W1AW, to open your regular log file, click File > Open, navigate to your file and select it.? The default file name is LogData.mdb.
?
?
I will be making?lots of contacts.? How do I configure AC Log to minimize keystrokes and log lots of stations quickly?
?
From AC Log 4.6's menu options click Settings > Fill Fields When Tabbing from Call, so that there is a check mark beside it.? As long as your band and mode remain the same, all you have to do is type the station's call, press space bar to tab to the next field and then?press the enter key.? All the pertinent fields will fill from values of the previous contact when you tab, so if the values haven't changed, all you have to do is press enter.? In short, the sequence is type the call, press space bar, press enter.
?
?
When operating CW, can I set up an automatic string associated with an F key that references what I type in the Call field?
?
Yes, just use the $ character anywhere in the string such as "$?599".? If you have KA3SEQ typed in the Call field, when you press the associated F key, KA3SEQ 599 will be sent.
?
?
How do I create an ADIF file of the log for submittal to ARRL?
?
From AC Log 4.6's menu options click File > Export ADIF > Whole Log and then follow the prompts.
?
?
That's all there is to it.?
?
Enjoy your time operating as W1AW!

Hi All,
?
I have two quick announcements to share...
?
?

?
?
Slow CW Net?
?
We are brainstorming the possibility of setting up a Slow CW net (around 13 WPM) that would be general rag chew and encourage Worked All States CW.? If you have an interest in developing this idea (described here: )?and you are willing to serve as a net control station, please e-mail me direct.

My Nested Loop Antenna Article in March 2014 QST!
?
I've mentioned from time to time how happy I am with the nested wire loop antenna that my son Brad, KB3MNE?and I?came up with.? It's a very good performing, neighborhood friendly (stealthy), inexpensive antenna, so I wrote an article about it and sent it to QST a while back.? Brad and I were thrilled to see it in print on page 40 in the March 2014 edition!? If you are an ARRL member, you can also read it on line here:

Amateur Contact Log 4.6 & State QSO Party Progress Update (CA, MN, NC, OK, VA, WI)!

Hi All,
?
I have two quick updates for you:
?
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.6 is Now Available!
?
Earlier this week, I was contacted by the eQSL folks, who reviewed my software for compatibility with their system.? They confirmed all is well when uploading via ADIF export from AC Log, but that when uploading directly from ACLog, the Prop_Mode field was not included when necessary.? I have remedied that with 4.6.
?
Two other small modifications include:
?
- The addition of rig interface support for the Yaesu 100D.
?
-?A check box option on the Rig Interface form to override the delay that waits for your rig's buffer to clear (up to two seconds)?before sending the change frequency and mode commands.

Use AC Log for ARRL's Centennial QSO Party - A Really Neat Event and Once in a Lifetime Opportunity!

?
Hi All,?
?
I hope that everyone is having a very merry Christmas and wonderful Holiday Season!?
?
I've been receiving lots of questions on the?really neat event that ARRL has coming up for 2014 - The Centennial QSO Party!?
?
Working all 50 states (WAS) is a great goal of many hams.? It's challenging, but with some patience, it is well within the realm of even quite modest stations.?
?
Once hams get WAS, then many set goals of attaining WAS on each individual HF band and / or doing it again QRP (low power).? That's a lot harder, but still possible for most over a lifetime of hamming.? But, how about this....?
?
How many hams can say that they have worked the same station call sign in all 50 states in one year for their WAS award?? By the end of 2014, you might be one of them!?
?
The ARRL is having a Centennial QSO Party in 2014.? Part of that event includes W1AW operating from all 50 states (and most territories) over the course of the year.? Keep up with their moves and by the end of 2014, you will be in a very select group!?
?
There appears to be quite a bit of interest for this event!??I've been receiving a number?requests from folks, wondering if I am going to create a specific application to track progress, not only in working W1AW, but for points from other stations that you work throughout the year during the Centennial QSO Party.?
?
Since "QSOs do not have to be contest style and it isn’t necessary to exchange the ARRL organizational information", Amateur Contact Log?will be best to use for this event.? In addition, point values are based on criteria that may not be part of the exchange.? According to the rules, by uploading your contacts to LoTW, your scoring will be updated for you automatically throughout this year long event, so you can track your score simply by uploading to LoTW from AC Log!
?
All the details, including scoring and?the W1AW operating schedule for each state,?are here:?
?
?
?
Remember, you can always customize AC Log to suite your contest style exchange by clicking Settings > Edit Fields Displayed for just the fields you want to use.? Click Settings > Fill Fields on Call tab to instantly populate the exchange fields when you tab from the Call field.
?
Enjoy the Centennial QSO Party!?

10 Meter Contest Log DX Display List Corrected

Hi All,
?
A minor glitch just came to light with the DX list display in the 10 Meter Contest Log.? If you click Setup and then Done, the DX list clears and doesn't repopulate until you change modes.? It's probably easiest to continue with your current version and just temporarily change modes to repopulate the list, rather than installing a new version, but I've already corrected the glitch and republished the software as version 4.3:
?
?
As always, upgrades are free to?registered users.

Amateur Contact Log 4.5 Now Available & Access Table Creation Error Remedy!

Hi All,
?
If you enter your frequency in MHz, live outside of Australia and don't own a Yaesu 847, the following probably won't be of interest to you.? Continue enjoying this weekend's ARRL 10 Meter Contest!? For those of you remaining....
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.5 is Now Available!
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.5 includes the following enhancements:
?
-? Version 2.0 of the LoTW?TQSL software introduced a new upload?problem.??TQSL 2.0?now also checks your?frequency (only if you have entered one, you don't have to)?to verify it is within the band?you entered.? If the frequency is outside the band, TQSL will not upload your record, even though it will still upload a record without a frequency at all.? The most common?reason for TQSL rejecting the records is that some folks are entering their frequency in KHz instead of MHz.? To correct this problem, with?AC Log version 4.5, your frequency?is now converted to MHz if that value / 1,000 falls within the band limits.? This check occurs on entry of new records and ADIF export, so your existing data should now upload to LoTW okay as well.
?
-? VK hams use the Wireless Institute of Australia's awards program (), which requires these tags in their ADIF export for upload: LOTW_QSL_SENT, LOTW_QSL_RCVD, EQSL_QSL_SENT and EQSL_QSL_RCVD. These tags are now added if there?is a L or E in the Confirmed By Sent and Confirmed By Received fields as appropriate to their ADIF export.

-? Some, but not all Yaesu 847 users where having trouble interfacing with the new, C#.NET?versions of my software.? This problem has been corrected by sending a command to start cat control when the port is opened if Yaesu - Older is selected.? This fix will also be rolled out into future versions of the contesting software in the coming months.? You'll be able to tell that you have the update for Yaesu 847s if the version on the rig interface form reads?1.3.
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users.? You'll find AC Log 4.5 here:

And the steps to upgrade here:

Enjoy!

Access Database Table Creation Problem (GetDataset Error) Remedy!
?
A very small percentage of folks have been having trouble running the new C#.NET versions of my software, receiving the following error as soon as they start the software before entering any data:?"I couldn't retrieve the requested data in GetDataset".? This resulted from Access creating the log?file on start okay, but not the needed internal tblContacts?table.
?
Up until now, the only reliable remedy has been a complete Windows reinstallation, but another user just reported this much less extreme, successful remedy!?
?
The problem was with my operating system. I went to ? and I updated the software and now works fine.
?

NA Sprint Contest Log 3.0 is Now Available!
?
This is the latest completed program?in my series of rewrites, converting all my software from VB6 to C#.NET.? It has all the enhancements?that you've come to enjoy in the new rewrites.
?
You'll find the new?NA Sprint Contest Log software here:?
?
?
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users. Of course, this includes our N3FJP Software Package users!
?
You'll find both the new C#.NET version and the older, tried and true VB6 version on the web site. NA Sprint Contest Log 3.0 is brand new, better, has additional features not found in the VB6 version and continues the upgrades and enhancements reflected in all the programs I've rewritten in C#.NET so far. While the new, C#.NET versions already released this year have performed very well, this will be the first use as applied specifically to this contest. It's always possible that a contest specific bug or two remain to be found, so I want to give you the option of using the VB6 version if you prefer.
?
Enjoy!
?
?
Virginia QSO Party 1.6 is Now Available!
?
This program, still in VB6, has been updated to reflect the City of Bedford multiplier change.? You'll find the upgrade here:
?
?
Again, as always, upgrades are free to registered users.
?
?
And in response to the questions we always receive when we neglect to include the following in our e-mail announcements...
?
?
Package Upgrade Information...
?
If you have registered one or more individual programs and would like to upgrade to N3FJP's Software Package or N3FJP's Software Package and CD for full use of all our Amateur Radio software, we would be glad to apply the amount that you have registered so far as a credit towards that purchase. Please send us an e-mail directly and we'll let you know your balance.
?
N3FJP's Software Package includes approximately 50 programs for contesting, net management, general logging and other Amateur Radio related applications. In addition to full use of all these programs, registered package customers are also entitled to receive free passwords for any new software that is added to the package and free upgrades to existing programs. You'll find all the details on the Register Now page at ?

Amateur Contact Log 4.4 is Now Available!

Hi All,
?
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.4 is Now Available!
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.4 includes the?addition of a Net and Round Table Manager Form!? Whether you are just participating in a casual round table or running a net, this form is designed to more comfortably log where multiple stations are participating.
?
My old VB6?Net Manager?/ Round Table?software was one of the many programs on the rewrite list.? While there are always tradeoffs, the more I thought about it, the more sensible it seemed to integrate it into Amateur Contact Log.? That way, we can utilize the Call Book lookup features, fill fields configuration options, have direct access to our master database, etc.? So, this new function in AC log replaces the old, VB6 version of Net Manager and is one more program I can check off the C#.NET rewrite list!
?
To use the Net and Round Table manager function in AC Log, just click Net from the main menu options to bring it up.? You'll find a help button near the upper right with a few more of the basics.
?
I know all nets are different and this?implementation may not fit everyone's needs, but I participate in 3?regular nets (15 Meter Water Cooler on 21.446, 10 Meter local net and a 2 Meter local net) and I think this will work out well for all three.? It is designed to be useful, whether you are running a net, or you are just a casual participant.
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users.? Please carefully read the upgrade instructions here:
?
?
?
And then please go ahead and download the latest here:??
?
??
?
I'd like to especially?thank my son Chris, KB3KCN, who is a gifted programmer and was?a tremendous help in getting this form up and running.? Not only did Chris do a super job, it is a wonderful blessing to be able to have fun and share in projects like these together!
?
Enjoy!
?
?
Are We There Yet?
?
The C#.NET rewrites for Amateur Contact Log and all the major ARRL and CQ contesting programs are already complete!? I've got about 25 programs to go, mostly state QSO parties, so if I can maintain a pace of a program about every two weeks, I should be able to finish up in about a year.? Hopefully, by the end of 2014, Lord willing, I'll have completed all the contesting rewrites!? I can't promise, but that's the goal right now and I'll keep you updated on my progress in future announcements.

The 10 - 10 QSO Party Contest Log is the first contesting application I've been able to complete since I released the C#.NET?rewrite of my general logging program, Amateur Contact Log?in early August.? Since AC Log's release, I've been quite busy with e-mail?support, as folks have been getting used to the new version, but I'm hopeful that will scale back soon, so?I can continue to move forward with the rewrite of the contesting applications.? All the major contest rewrites have already been completed, but I still have approximately 25 rewrites remaining, mostly state QSO parties.? Lord willing, If I can complete a program every two weeks on average, I still have about a years work ahead on the rewrites.

Amateur Contact Log 4.3 Now Available

Hi All,
?
I'm usually quite excited to bring you news of new versions and features.? Today's announcement isn't typical.
?
Yesterday afternoon, I was contacted by Fred Lloyd of QRZ, who wrote in part:
?
"The web site HamQTH.com stole a copy of our data and is now offering it for free."? "Programs that facilitate the use of HamQTH.com are, in legal terms, are participating in "contributory infringement".? Therefore, since your software is on the QRZ recommended logbooks list, I'd like to ask if you would consider withdrawing support for so-called "free lookups" from HamQTH.com."
?
I followed up with Fred, who substantiated his position by providing?fictitious call signs, which QRZ has intentionally included in their data, to detect just such an occurrence.? Sure enough, these call signs only appear on QRZ and HamQTH, but not?on other data sources.
?
Obviously I can't?support any service that?participates in that sort of behavior.? To do so would be akin to QRZ linking to a web site selling pirated copiers of my software (something I know Fred would never do).? For these reasons, I have removed the HamQTH lookup feature in AC Log version 4.3.?
?
Guys, I know this is disappointing news.? It is for me too.? Not only do I lose the lookup option myself,?the days I spent coding the additional feature have?been rendered worthless?and it puts my software?at a competitive disadvantage to other packages that?continue to support HamQTH.? You can be sure that should QRZ and HamQTH reach a?mutual agreement and settle this issue, I will happily and?promptly restore the HamQTH lookup feature.
?
On the brighter side, Amateur Contact Log 4.3?includes some minor tweaks and enhancements:
?
- You can now insert a space when you type the name if you first hold Shift as you press the space bar.
?
- With the Fill Fields Determined by Call function, if the Comments field is completely empty (zero length) AND if you have the Place Retrieved Address in Comments Field checked, the Comments field will be filled (depending on your data source).
?
Keep in mind, if you export from the contesting software or any other program, be sure to leave the default comment blank if you want to have the comment field populate when you run the AC Log function.
?
- I've corrected the RST default function for digital when Fill Fields Determined by Call is enabled.
?
-? The LoTW setup page will now detect your TQSL path on first load and provide a selectable?drop down list of station locations.? I've also added more detail to our LoTW setup help page here:?

Contest Logs Updated for Screen Readers, Demo & TQSL Deadlock Condition Corrected!

Hi All,
?
I have a couple announcements to share...
?
?
Contest Logs Updated to Accommodate Screen Readers!
?
You'll notice new version numbers for all the new, C# versions of my contesting software on .? Like the recent modifications to AC Log, I've made adjustments under the hood so that the contesting software is much more screen reader friendly for visually impaired users.??This is the only change, so if you don't use a screen reader there is no need to upgrade.
?
?
AC Log 4.2 Accessibility Review and Demo!
?
Kelvin Marsh,?M0AID, who was a tremendous help in making Amateur Contact Log more accessible for visually impaired hams,?has put together a review and audio demo of Amateur Contact Log.? You'll find Kelvin's review here:
?
?
His audio MP3 overview here:
?
?
And his AC Log configuration MP3 overview here:
?
?
?
TQSL / AC Log?Deadlock Condition Corrected!
?
The TQSL upload is already working fine for almost everyone running AC Log 4.2 and TQSL 1.14 or later.? If you are in that camp, you need not read further.
?
About a half dozen folks have reported problems when signing and uploading to LoTW, that the TQSL software would lock or display behind another form.? I've been working with the TQSL folks and I think we've identified the problem and a?solution.? I'd like to extend a special thanks to Rick, K1MU and Dave, AA6YQ for their good suggestions and help!
?
Long story short, if someone had a large number of errors, such as many QSOs with invalid dates, the TQSL buffer would fill with error messages, waiting for AC Log to read it before proceeding, but AC Log was waiting for TQSL to finish before reading the buffer, resulting in a deadlock.
?
I've modified the code to correct the problem and it is?working well when I simulate the conditions here.? If you are one of the few folks experiencing this problem, please uninstall AC Log from Windows Control Panel and then reinstall it.??The current AC Log version number remains 4.2, but the LoTW form now also has a version number, which says 1.2.? You can download that latest version of AC Log here:

Amateur Contact Log 4.2 is Now Available!

Hi All,
?
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.2 is Now Available!
?
AC Log 4.2 includes the following enhancements:
?
-? Ability to select the automatic fill behavior for each of the eight Other fields individually.? They can now default to the value of the previous contact, the value previously entered for the same call worked or not default to any value.? Just click Settings > Other Field Titles and Fill Behavior?to configure as you like!
?
-? Screen modification for screen reader compatibility.? These changes aren't apparent to sighted hams, but I've made quite a few modifications under the hood so that screen readers can now more accurately determine the correct label to read for each text box.? A very special thanks to Kelvin, M0AID, who spent a great deal of time and was a wonderful help working though this process.? Kelvin will be writing up tutorials for blind hams to help navigate AC Log and I will let you know when they are available.
?
I plan to incorporate the screen reader modifications into all the contesting programs in the coming weeks.? I will let you know when they are ready.
?
-? Correction of New label display for mode.??New alert labels that included mode as part of the criteria were working okay for CW, but not phone or digital.? I have corrected that.
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users.? Please carefully read the upgrade instructions here:
?

If you want to unsubscribe or need to change your e-mail address for future announcements....
?
The way Yahoo groups are set up, it is much easier for subscribers to unsubscribe from the old e-mail address than for the list owner to do it for you. In addition, Yahoo now prohibits list owners from adding anyone, so it is impossible for me to add your new e-mail address..??

Fortunately, it is very easy for subscribers to unsubscribe and resubscribe.

AC Log 3.4 Users - Country List Corrected

Hi All,
?
If you have already upgraded to AC Log 4.1, you need not read further.? All is well.? Go make contacts!
?
For those of you still using AC Log 3.4...
?
If you?ran into a problem with the country list loading after Jim's?latest update and you have not corrected the country list load error, Jim has?fixed the country list so that it will now load properly.? He actually restored the previous list, while he updates the latest for the 3X versions of AC Log, which may be release this weekend.
?
From the menu options in AC Log 3.4, just click File > Download Country Files from AD1C and download all three files.? Then start AC Log and you will be all set.

For the Few Folks Having Trouble Running the New C# Versions....

Hi All,
?
Almost everyone running XP with Service Pack 3 and later operating systems has been able to run the new, C# versions of my software just fine.? If you are in that camp, all is well and you need not read any further.
?
For the handful of folks reporting that everything appears to install okay, but the program won't run on startup, I think we've found a solution!.? To make a long story short (tracking down the cause of the problem took a good bit of trouble shooting and I never would have guessed a missing, common font would be the source of the trouble),?in all the cases that I've been working with directly, the Arial Regular font was not on their system.? Simply reinstalling the font from Microsoft's site?has corrected the problem with all the individuals I've been working with so far and the new versions of my software now run fine on their systems!
?
You can download the Arial font here:
?
?
If you have been having trouble running the new versions, hopefully this will do the trick!
?
If the above remedy doesn't correct the problem, please uninstall AC Log 4X and then reinstall it, or go ahead and install AC Log 4.1, even if your interest is a contesting program.? Just the past Saturday evening (8/17/2013) I added additional code to the AC Log 4.1 startup routine?that provides a lot more detail about any starting errors, which should help us diagnose what may be missing or incorrectly set on your system.
?
Hopefully the above will do the trick!

Amateur Contact Log 4.1 Now Available!

Hi All,
?
I had planned to get back to the contesting software and let AC Log 4.0 run as is for the time being, but a couple minor things came to light in the last few days and one important, required fix just a little while ago, so as a result....
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.1 is Now Available!
?
Corrections and Enhancements Include:
?
-? AC Log Call Data Lookup!? Back by popular demand from those without constant Internet access,?the AC Log call book lookup feature is?restored!???If you want to process your own FCC?data you will need to use a VB6 version of AC Log to prepare it for 4.1, but you can download the AC Log ready data from our website anytime, right from?AC log and the lookup functionality is the same.?
?
-? Correction of LoTW Confirmed By markings.? It just?came to light?moments ago that on LoTW Downloads, if you had uploaded a contact AND it had already been marked as confirmed (by Card or eQSL),?an L was also being added in the Confirmed?By field, whether the contact was actually confirmed on LoTW or not.? Just to be clear, none your records were erroneously marked as Received.? An L in the Confirmed By field was only added if it was already marked?as received in some other way and the record was included in a LoTW download.??I really apologize that this didn't come to light during the beta testing.?
?
-? Not Responding Message Eliminated.? For some of the extended processes with large databases, a Not Responding message would sometimes temporarily appear on the form.? This was generally not a problem, as long as the user was patient the program would finish, but it could lead to an impatient user forcing a shut down in the middle of saving data.
?
As always, upgrades are free to registered users!
?
?
Upgrade Instructions:
?
To upgrade to version 4.1 from 4.0, there is nothing you have to do with your log file or settings files.? All your customized settings will appear when you start 4.1.? Just uninstall 4.0 from Windows Control Panel and then install the latest:
?
?
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 4.0:
?
-? Install AC Log 4.1.
-? From your previous version of AC Log, click File > Export ADIF?> Whole Log and save your file in a place that is easy for you to find on your hard drive.
-? From version 4.1, click File > Import ADIF and select the ADIF file that you exported.
-? If you have customized settings, you'll need to reconfigure them, but you'll find it to be a much easier process with even more flexibility in version 4.0!
?
You'll find additional upgrade instruction detail?here:
?
?
By the way, AC Log 4.1 runs completely independently of the VB6 versions of AC Log, so if you are unsure if you want to upgrade, please go ahead and give it a try.? Your existing installation will not be altered in any way and you can continue with the previous version if you prefer it for any reason.? I think you will really like version 4.1 once you get a taste of it though!
?
?
Thanks for Your Patience!
?
All, this last year and a half has been a really intense time of learning a new programming language and working towards recreating all the software that took about seven years to write in VB6 the first time around.? Thank you for your patience as I work to rewrite the software and fix any problems that come to light.??I'm getting requests daily for rewrites for all the remaining programs that are still on the list and support for additional contests as well.? Once we get everyone settled in with the AC Log rewrite, I plan to get back to the contesting programs just as quickly as possible.

"I know your upgrades are free, but I also realize how much time and effort coding these enhancements and new programs take and that your pricing policy doesn't fully reflect that. Can I send you something to show my appreciation for your continued efforts?"

Amateur Contact Log 4.0 is Now Available!

Hi All,
?
I'm really excited to announce that...
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.0 is Now Available!
?
To make a long story very short, when I first started writing software back in 1997, Visual Basic was a great programming?platform that?I used to create all my original software, but in the years to follow, Microsoft dropped support for VB6.? To?be sure that our programs continue to run well into the future, make them more maintainable and?easier to code future enhancements, I am in the process of rewriting my entire software package in C#.NET and Amateur Contact Log 4.0 is now complete!
?
Amateur Contact Log Version 4.0 is a?total rewrite of Amateur Contact Log.? It has almost all the features supported in version 3.4?and lots of new ones that?I?think you'll really?enjoy!? Some of the new enhancements include:
?
-? Fully networkable!??Whether you want to use AC Log for a DXPedition, or you just want to access your log from multiple PCs simultaneously at your home or club station,?AC Log will now support multiple clients updating a single database, just like my Field Day and other contesting?software!?
?
-? Lots of additional and customizable?data fields.
?
-? AC Log is as easy to use on first install as ever, but if you want to customize AC Log,?it is now even easier to configure?the main form to your taste for fonts, colors,?layout, tab order and fields displayed!
?
-? Improved analysis and display?of needed DX spots stations.
?
-? Bulk uploads and downloads to / from?eQSL are now supported.
?
-? Addition of HamQTH.com's free callbook Internet lookup service.
?
-? And lots more!
?
?
AC Log 4.0 is Free to Registered Users!
?
As always, all of my software upgrades are free to registered users and AC Log 4.0 is no exception!? You can download the latest from:
?
?
?
System Requirements:
?
Amateur Contact Log 4.0 requires Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or later.? It also requires the Microsoft .NET 4.0 client framework, which is likely already on your PC, but if not, the installer will?install it for you automatically.? If you are running an operating system prior to XP, don't worry, I'll keep version 3.4 on the VB6 archive page here:? ?in case you ever need to reinstall it.
?
?
Installation Steps:
?
AC Log 4.0 uses a completely different database structure, so it will not open your log file from 3.4 directly, but upgrading is a snap.? Simply:
?
-? Install AC Log 4.0.
-? From your previous version of AC Log, click File > Export ADIF?> Whole Log and save your file in a place that is easy for you to find on your hard drive.
-? From version 4.0, click File > Import ADIF and select the ADIF file that you exported.
-? If you have customized settings, you'll need to reconfigure them, but you'll find it to be a much easier process with even more flexibility in version 4.0!
?
By the way, AC Log 4.0 runs completely independently of the previous versions of AC Log, so if you are unsure if you want to upgrade, please go ahead and give it a try.? Your existing installation will not be altered in any way and you can continue with the previous version if you prefer it for any reason.? I think you will really like version 4.0 once you get a taste of it though!
?
For LoTW uploads from AC Log 4.0, you'll need to run TQSL software version 1.14 or later.
?
?
A Note to Blind Hams:
?
I've received reports from blind hams beta testing AC Log 4.0 that some screen readers are not doing as good a job identifying the fields as they did in the VB6 versions of AC Log.? I don't have any screen reader software here and until I have the opportunity to investigate further, blind hams may want to stay with AC Log 3.4 for now.? AC Log 4.0 does continue the feature?I programed?in 3.4 of correctly?reading the current field with wave files.
?
?
Thanks so much for Testing and Input!
?
I want to extend a special thank you for all the testing, enhancement suggestions and input that so many of you offered during the development and testing phase of Amateur Contact Log 4.0.? You all have made this version far better than it would have been otherwise and I can't thank you enough for all your help, patience and input!
?
?
Enjoy!
?
So everyone, please give AC Log 4.0 a try and see what you think.? I hope that you enjoy it!
