Re: Codeplug loses info and problems exporting...

Michael,

Can you detail what key functions are disappearing? (Please note that the DCF file format as defined by AnyTone does not encapsulate all functionality of the various models. AnyTone uses this format specifically to support multiple models.)

Also, most CSV import issues are caused by external editing tools such as Excel. Contact Manager expects certain fields to be wrapped in quotes in order to allow spaces, commas, and other delimiters within those fields. If the external editor fails to replicate this schema, errors may result when Contact Manager attempts to read the information.

It's generally not necessary to use CSV files to move and/or manipulate information in Contact Manager. In particular, commands for transplanting/transforming channel information include Structural Import, Mass Change, and the system clipboard. If you must use CSV, we recommend using a raw text editor such as Notepad or GEdit that won't damage the information.

Finally, I've attached an Excel spreadsheet that details the mapping of Channel fields within CSV files. This map is used by the CSV Services layer within Contact Manager to transcribe information as it is transported within and between codeplugs.

Best,
Tom

Re: Codeplug Channel Generator

Hello Frank,

Great to hear from you - hope you are doing well. (Same for everyone on this list serve, of course).

Neat implementation of your idea in Access. You've put a great deal of thought and effort into this.

You can accomplish exactly the same thing by using the Mass Change command already built into Contact Manager - with the advantage that you don't have to export and import CSV file data. To build groups of custom channels that inherit from existing channels (and include existing talkgroups), simply proceed as follows:

1. In the Channels tab, highlight all channels that reference the talkgroups you wish to include for the new repeater. (Use CTRL-Click to highlight non-contiguous channels). [Note: You may find it helpful to temporarily sort channels by talkgroup to make it easier to locate the talkgroups you want.]
2. Right-click within the Channels list and select Mass Change.
3. In the Mass Change dialog:
a) Check the box indicating that a copy of the channels is to be made.
b) Enter the new repeater frequency.
c) Set up any desired changes to the new channel names using the prepend, append, and/or replace boxes.
d) Make any necessary changes to time slot. (NOTE: This will impact all of the new channels; choose wisely!)
e) Click the COMMIT CHANGES button.

Your new channels will be automatically created. If you wish to place them into a new zone, simply scroll to the end of the Channels list, highlight the new channels, and right-click to select the Zone Wizard.

Thanks for sharing your information...let me know if we're on target.

Best,
Tom

This would be a great idea to add to contact manager.

Hi Geep!

I had a similar issue when I upgraded the firmware. ?I had to export the existing code plug with the utility in the CPS for the extended zone channels. ?Then I updated the firmware and the CPS version afterwards. I then followed the sequence reported here:

All seemed to work okay afterwards. ?However, ?I continued to have issues with Contact Manager. ?I ended up using this site for the contacts and all worked fine:

Attached is an updated CS800D contact file I pulled down today.
Hope this was helpful

I am not griping, just reporting what happened when I tried to solve a problem with the CS800D CPS.? Which is still not solved.? I looked before I posted, but the old group is gone, and this group has very few posts, so I thought I would just throw it out there.? I don't do a lot of re-programming and can usually do what I need to do in the CPS, but it has an issue that makes a contact import impossible.?

When Tom checks this group, then I'm sure he will see what I posted, and provide an answer.? I figured out a workaround and posted it.? And I have supported his work in the past.? I appreciate what he has done, but I am surprised that other CS800D users have not noted this problem, or if they have and there's an approved workaround, it can't be found with the current resources available.

Re: Contact Manager imports incorrect DMR ID's from CSV file

I stay away from contact manager and use it just for bulk edit feature,, moving zones around and other small changes,, I have noticed all large changes always have to be cleaned up In Excel an almost always has errors created by contact manager, if you get a chance, send me the code plug I will check it and try loading it on one of my 800Ds and see what it does, I know all the DMR radios hate it when you don't reorder the left number box by pulldown, that one will really tick you off trying to figure out what went wrong,, don't ask me how I figured that out LOL, I also found that sometims contact manager screws up the first channel on your plug and will send it like fragments duplicated all over zones and on manager itself won't let you edit that one when it does it,, make sure your contacts are under 130K or it will over run memory and wipe the voice announcement partition causing you to have to reload, had that happen before because of contact manager, it also corrupted the plug

Re: Contact Manager imports incorrect DMR ID's from CSV file

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I tried re-arranging the Excel file and was able to import contacts correctly. ?The first column, with numbers needs to be removed. ?The DMR ID column need to be moved into the first position. ?Contact Manager then reads in the correct DMR id¡¯s.

I then used the structural import function to grab zones and channels from the old code plug, went back into the CS800D CPS to correct a few things there, and the new plug is working.
