Tera TR7200/TR7400 Firmware 3.1.17 Compatibility Issue Resolved
Greetings,
If you have recently upgraded your Tera TR7200/TR7400 to the latest firmware and CPS (3.1.17), you may find that Contact Manager reports an error upon loading the codeplug saved by the CPS. Tera made a minor change to their codeplug format in this release. This problem has been corrected in the build of Mar 13 2021 11:23:27, which enables Contact Manager to work with the revised Tera codeplug files. To adopt the fix, simply download the latest version of Contact Manager (2.64E, Build March 13 2021) from our website at . Thanks to Jim N0TOA for spotting this problem and bringing it to our attention! Best, Tom N0GSG |
Re: Codeplug loses info and problems exporting...
It's always been a default function of the CPS, I always take pictures of my options tabs before hand,, I think any tone does this because you can go from different radios with an export , but the 578 options are different than the 868 or the 878 to avoid possible problems Lee K4DUR On Sun, Mar 14, 2021, 1:55 PM Greg Liverman <greg.liverman@...> wrote: This is a problem with the Anytone CPS and creation of the DCF file. |
Re: Codeplug loses info and problems exporting...
This is a problem with the Anytone CPS and creation of the DCF file.
I loaded a RDT file into the 578 CPS (1.11), exported a DCF file and then immediately imported that same DCF file. My "Key Fnction" settings had been reset to default values. Analysis: I think this is on purpose so that a DCF file written by one Anytone radio can be read by another model Anytone radio. The 868, 878 and 578 have differences in their capabilities, especially in the area of "Optional Settings". Hence I believe Anytone chose to reset those particular "Optional Settings" settings to default values of the radio importing the DCF file. I could be way up the creek with this analysis...but it explains the behavior we are seeing. Fact: it is not a Contact Manager issue at all, but a function of DCF export/import? |

Re: Any New Features Coming?
Hello Andrew, Thanks for your mail! I've been much more engaged in my full-time job in the last twelve months, and that has detracted from my hamming activities. I have thought quite a bit (and doodled on some scratch paper) about where Contact Manager ought to go next, and have some ideas. I think the support we've received from the ham community has been absolutely amazing - and I want to make DMR easier for everyone. So the open ended question is, how can we accomplish this? I've got a few ideas that are pretty big - in fact, bigger on the plate than I know I can possibly accomplish alone. Contact Manager turned five years old as of February 2020. Thoughts? Re: Issue with 2.66D not pulling new data - multiple other sources also affected
All, I investigated the cause of data pull failure from RadioID. RadioID has moved their database content to a different server within their domain, as announced on their web page. I updated Contact Manager to pull data from the new location - the updated program is now posted as version 2.66E. Additionally, I added a bit of "navigational help" for those who may be using the program for the first time and attempt to open a native AnyTone codeplug in RDT format. The program will recognize these incompatibly-formatted codeplugs and pop up a brief help message with explanation of the DCF file export feature in the AnyTone CPS. I hope this helps everyone utilize the software to its fullest. As always, your support is very much appreciated. 73, Tom On Sun, Jun 28, 2020 at 12:58 PM <w2sjw@...> wrote: Guys, -- Tom Wheeler Amateur Radio Station N?GSG Overland Park, KS |
Re: Issue with 2.66D not pulling new data - multiple other sources also affected
Greetings, I've noticed very intermittent connectivity issues between my location and the two databases (RadioID and GitHub). Radio ID is the primary source, and GitHub is the backup. I just ran the software and got the following status from the DMR Database Searcher: Database acquisition complete; 166991 total records from backup DB. Source: GitHub Raw User Data Successfully cached DB records. So as of now, the software successfully used the backup of the DMR database. In the backup, I noticed that the country is not annotated the same as in Radio ID. It often says USA instead of UNITED STATES. If I specify USA from the GitHub backup data, I get: Query 'USA' returned 76404 matches. I'll look into what's going during the database pull to see if something has changed between CM and Radio ID. Issue with 2.66D not pulling new data - multiple other sources also affected
Guys,
I was working on my 800D codeplug this weekend, and I noticed the tool is not pulling any new data. When you load the contact sub-screen, you see this: Database acquisition complete; 166991 total records from backup DB.Source: GitHub Raw User DataSuccessfully cached DB records. And when I do a compound search for just North America, I get this as a result: Compound query ' UNITED STATES OR? CANADA' returned 4617 matches. There are a few other sites I keep bookmarked, like the lists at web1.foxhollow.ca. His recent lists are completely empty. Anyone know if Tom is aware that his source locations have probably stopped pulling data? I saw a notice on RadioID.net about new API changes coming 7/1/20... |
N?GSG DMR Contact Manager Version 2.66D Release to Address AnyTone DCF Load Errors in the AT-D878UV and other Newer Models
All, We just released a minor update, 2.66D, that addresses a newly-discovered issue within AnyTone's DCF files. AnyTone originally accommodated Contact Manager by adding the ability to write "data conversion files" within all versions of their CPS. This is necessary because the actual file formats for individual AnyTone models vary widely, so the DCF file allows us to deal with these with minimal pain. All DCFs employ the same file format as written by AnyTone AT-D868UV CPS 1.21. I've received reports of Contact Manager failing to load DCFs from AT-D878UV radios. These codeplugs contained more than the allotted 160,000 records originally defined by the limits of the AT-D868. Our solution to this approach is simple. Version 2.66D opens up the maximum contact limit to more than 400,000 records for AnyTone radios. Does this mean that you can now load 400,000 contacts into your trusty AT-D868UV? No! If you attempt to import more than 160,000 records into a codeplug for this older model, Contact Manager will happily oblige you. You can save the DCF with no problems. But loading this DCF codeplug into the wrong AnyTone CPS version (such as for the 868) will likely crash the CPS beyond your wildest dreams. Be very cognizant of this limitation. Because the DCF format is "universal" for AnyTone models, there is no way that Contact Manager can know (at least at this point) what CPS and radio you are working with. This same advice is true for any radios made by AnyTone but branded differently (Alinco, BTECH, and so forth). You can enjoy the enhanced contact capability by downloading version 2.66D from our website at Thanks to the hams who helped identify this problem. As always, thanks for your support! Re: Database question
Andrew, This is a good question. Multiple databases are used to help ensure reliability. RADIO ID is the primary, authoritative database consulted. Others such as GitHub will are utilized if your computer is unable to connect with RADIO ID. Database results are cached on your computer and automatically refreshed on a daily basis (whenever you start Contact Manager). On Mon, Apr 20, 2020 at 10:27 AM <Kk4sho@...> wrote: I¡¯m sorry if this has been asked before, what database does tom¡¯s software pull from to update digital contacts? -- Tom Wheeler Amateur Radio Station N?GSG Overland Park, KS |
Re: Organize Scan LIsts
Andrew, There is currently no support for alphabetizing or re-ordering scan lists (as you can do with zones) in Contact Manager. This is the first this question has arisen, so I'll put this on the wish list for a future release. Organize Scan LIsts
What is the best option folks use to alphabetize their scan lists? I haven't played with the program at length in some time. I want to alphabetize the scan list to clean things up. I see you can reorder zones but not scan lists.?
Not seeing where I can export scan lists to excel.? Thanks in advance! Andrew/K4AWC |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen opening up the file after editing on Contact Manager my buttons ie. P1-P6 and PA-PD, ?that where previously mapped revert back to default settings. I would have to reset them every time in the CPS. I do not use excel for my editing just the contact manager which make it so much easier.??The other issue is exporting just the channels.csv from contact manager then importing the same file into CPS I get an error message.
