Perhaps a dumb question: Why convert to Mach3, as opposed to Mach4?
I’m sincerely interested in knowing your reasoning, since I may need to do
an upgrade myself.

I understand. I've used d2nc. Dxf to gcode can be accomplished by many
ways. I use fusion now, import the dxf, then create tool path from there.
Create sketch from dxf. Create solid from sketch,
