Re: MACH4 and Lathe Spindle encoder
Yes, it can work with an encoder or an index pulse.? Check this out:

Re: Gecko G540
Thank you Steve. That's the information I was looking for.
In fact I'm surprised that they are stating 10V for the input supply voltage since even rail to rail op-amps don't quite get to the rail

Re: Gecko G540
Well, sort of......
The circuitry works better at 10 or 12 volts, but it will function at 5 volts.
The issue is that the output range is limited to between approximately Gnd plus about 0.3 volts and

Gecko G540
I realize this isn't completely a MACH question but many MACH users have G540's connected to their systems.
The VFD pins are the ones I'm wondering about. The specs say optically isolated PWM.

Re: MACH4 and Lathe Spindle encoder
Nothing that I noticed, but I didn’t really try to find any differences either.
Threading (once they finally made it work) was fine with either method.

Thanks.
Did you find any difference in behavior?

Re: MACH4 and Lathe Spindle encoder
It's just I had a question on how hard to migrate from a MACH3 1 PPR to a MACH4 system and whether mechanical and electrical changes were required to use MACH4 due to a quadrature encoder requirement

MACH4 and Lathe Spindle encoder
Can MACH4 Lathe still work with only a 1PPR spindle sensor or does it now require a full quadrature encoder and Index pulse?

Re: Mach3 Modbus/Win10 problem
I have found that if your computer has trouble letting you use an Arduino comm port rebooting the system fixes it for me.

Yes I veryfied and it is recognized as a Com port (Arduino Tool Kit was already installed).
Just tried to change the USB port but still the same, modified the Com3 to Com4 label and still the

For example. I took a fairly new WIN-10 system that had been upgraded from WIN-7. Even has MACH3 on it although I don't use it.
I plugged in an ESP32 DevKit1 and came up with the screen that shows

Re: Mach3 Modbus/Win10 problem
How are you connecting to the MODBus? A USB dongle that acts as a serial port or a physical serial port?
After WIN-7 Microsoft disallowed most USB PID combinations unless the owners paid $5k or so

Mach3 Modbus/Win10 problem

Trying to move my Mach3/Ess from Win XP to Win10, I get an "Error triggered" "Art Code 1" and "Art Code 9991" at the startup.

I did that on my lathe. I couldn't work out why the finish was so bad. :)
